The old protocol, and smart port sensors are not supported. You only get RSSI and receiver supply voltage, as well as data from old sensors connected to a vario used as bridge if I'm not mistaken.

Basically with the FrSky accessories you have 2 "good" configurations:

DJT or XJT in D8 mode - FLD-02 - D receivers and old sensors
XJT in D16 mode - Smart Dashboard - X receivers and smart port sensors

Mixing both has very variable compatibility, complex to work out what will work or not.

Could be, but I doubt that the X-port sensors messages are translated to old style messages, to mimic a FLVS-02 behave as a FLVS-01.
The fact that you don't have a six cells screen on display tell me there is not FLVS-01 specific message received.

They are not, which was my point.

He would need an FLVS-01 connected to a hub, connected to a smart port vario's data in, connected to the X8R. That may work, but not even sure.

I have DR4ii receiver in several mini quads. On my latest one I built, it has RSSI problem and goes into failsafe and crash. This was a brand new receiver and antennas are intact with no bend in protective straws. Do you think I just received a defective one? This must be only less than 300m. I'd like to hear your thought before I disassemble everything in this tiny micro build. Thanks.

Maybe a pain to do, but how about swapping the good receiver into this quad if you have others with greater range? This should test your installation and any onboard interference. A quick test to decide if the new receiver is bad? How's your range test distance?

Yep. Put in new receiver and now RSSI is clean. Looks like I received a brand new defective one.
