Now thats a sweet looking Yak. Sorry, the other one just doesnt do it for me. But I've never been a yak fan.

Nice picture, but I'm glad that the new Yak is the 55m and not the 54. Yak 55's (and especially the "m") are what I've grown up watching at airshows across the country. I've never seen a 54 in real life, and I doubt that many people have. I think there is only one flying in North America if I recall correctly. I'm actually surprised at how popular it became as an RC model. The 55m may not look pretty to some, but once you've seen it in real life you'll fall in love. It slowly lumbers along, tumbling and defying gravity.

As for the KE abilities.....I haven't seen AJ or Gernot have any issues with KE. Many Yak 55 foamies are known for there KE abilities as well. Throw some SFG's on her if you need more rudder authority.

I'm soooo glad that the Yak55 was chosen... the 54 is one ugly airplane.

im kinda partial to the 55 with the turtle deck....i think composite calls it the 55sp? thats my favorite by far of the yaks...

I Think I read somewhere in this forum that is will run off one 3-cell 2200mah. battery? is this true, if so the batteries for this plane would be fairly cheep. or did I misread something?

Oh man, this is what I have been looking for! There just aren't any good Yak55's modeled in this size.
I was wondering is the color scheme(love it) final and are there going to be other schemes to choose from.

I don't agree that the 54 is ugly, but I'm with you on the 55. Great choice!

guys - Can we keep this thread on the AJ Yak 55? Once these threads start, they stick around forever, and if confusing stuff gets into the thread at the beginning, it confuses people for the rest of time.
