Very nice model, Michel! Great job with the shaping, especially.

It seems almost a shame to commit her to aviation - but that is her reason to be

Got some more work done on my 150% Hornet. Fuse is 7/8mm depron, and wing is 15mm pink foam.
UM 16" span DLG for scale. The wings seem a little thick, so I might do a 7mm KF2 wing instead.

Hello All,
Beautiful builds in here so far. I'm interested in trying one of these out and I searched the thread but need your opinions. Can this be done from Dollar Tree Foam? Or would it be too weak? I can strengthen the foam with some fiberglass and polycrylic in key areas but maybe that's adding too much weight.

Budgets are tight these days so I'm attempting to be frugal but don't want to waste my time if it won't work. I would just save up for better foam if I have too.

Thanks.
Evan

Evan, a short answer to your question...Yes, you can use dollar tree foam but as you may know, it is thinner (about 3/16") and a little 'softer' than Depron, but it will work ok.. Using Polycrylic just by itself will give make it stronger. Make sure you remove the paper from both sides of the foam. As an alternative to Depron, you might want to check out Model Plane Foam.. it is similar to Depron, but much cheaper...modelplanefoam.com.
Hope this info will help you...keep us informed of your progress.

Thank you gents. Looks like good stuff.

For those that have been in this thread for a while, are there good flight videos you can link too? As this will be my first pusher prop style I'm debating between going all in on this or starting with a profile version. I'm looking for examples of how it flies. I've started to look and found great build pics but not many videos.

Thanks

Just go to search this thread, and type in "video ". Not everyone will be one, you just have to sort thru them.
