Small Batteries

Of those flying this electric, with the recommended RimFire 80 motor (or similar) is anybody flying with a 6S 3350(ish)mah size pack as used in the review, and recommended by Great Planes? What are your flight times? I've been using 5000mah batteries just because I already had them, thinking about trying something a bit lighter.

I fly it with a Rimefire 120 and 6S 5000. 6 minute flights. Unlimited vertical. I first installed a Rimefire 80 and it looked like I was going to have to add weight to the nose. I hate that so I upsized to the 120. No extra weight necessary. Would like to have a little more flight time but I have come to live with it.

Another Revolver in the air

Maidened my new Revolver yesterday. What a neat flying plane. Unfortunately, I was experiencing signal loss with my JR9503 and AR6210 setup. I switched to a Taranis and FrSky X8R but saw the same drop outs on the ground. I have switched out the ESC and that seems to have solved the problem for now. But for added measure I think I will remove the BEC power wire from the speed control and run a separate Rx battery.

It flew just great. I will honestly say no trim was needed. It did feel nose heavy to me and I will be moving the battery back on the next flights once I get the radio drop outs solved.

My goal for this plane was simply a great sport flyer with a good size wingspan (yet still portable in most smaller cars).

Weight ready to fly was 9.1 lbs.

My setup is essentially stock:
  • Rimfire .80
  • Castle Phoenix 100 (switched to a Turnigy 85A Pro ESC)
  • Glacier 6S 5300
  • XOAR 15-7 prop
  • Spektrum A6180 on ailerons and elevator
  • Hitec HS-5625 on rudder
  • GPS and battery voltage telemetry to Taranis

my revolver

I got this airframe in a trade.. and powered it with an RCG 20 from Hk...and a 16x8 apc.. I have to say that this is thee best model yet I have flown... dam thing tracks through the air like a bullet on rails.. very easy to view and very easy to fly.. Does anything I command.. lands like a feather.. Gps has it clocked at over 100 mph..

This is my new " Go To " plane...

Sorry, been working on some other projects as of late, just finished a 2 Kw Heli motor Invictus running 6s, almost as much fun as the Revolver!
