Monkey Blunt - FPV flying Wing Upgrade Kit
I was luck enough to have the opportunity to evaluate FPVmonkey's Monkey blunt Flying wing!
I have always enjoyed the videos and simplicity of the Popwing and Tek Sumo but didnt like the idea of buying a wing to cut all kinds of holes in it to adapt for my FPV rig. This is where the Monkey Blunt come in!
The Monkey Blunt kit is an Upgrade kit for the Popwing or Tek Sumo and just in the initial build/review I am amazed! Everything that is normally asked for is included.
Whats in the Kit:
Blunt Section (made from high quality American birch plywood)
- Bolt pattern camera mount
- Extra blank camera mount (drill your own holes if your camera doesn’t fit the other)
- Motor Mount (with 2 plates equally 6 layers of wood!)
- Battery bay with velcro strap slots, adjustable for CG
- MOBIUS mount with vibration isolation design. Adjustable tilt angle!
- Wingtip pieces (for bolt on winglets). Optional: can just glue the winglets on
- 4mm coroplast bay cover, cut oversize so you can customize
- 2mm Speed Winglets
- 2mm Bunny Ear Winglets
- Hardware kit: t-nuts, washers, screws for winglets. Screws and nuts for your board fpv cam. Two different types of motor screws, X-plate style with wood screws or multirotor style bolts. Screws, washers and locknuts for Mobius mount.
You Just have to supply a Popwing or TekSumo and your electronics preference!
The kit came in a large bubble Mailer and had more parts and features than anything Iv seen! He includes bolts, nuts, and options for however you want to fly! The laser cut wood is very clean and durable! The Longer spars included are really nice and everything fit right into place! And it has a vibration dampening plate for the mobius! no jello in videos from this

And to go along with the build, What do people think of a full kit rather than just an upgrade? would this make it more/less appealing for a smaller flying wing platform? I really like to hear feedback from the community in regards to builds, new products, and research!

WoHoo! Maiden is complete and i have to say... WHAT A RUSH! besides the wind bashing me around a little, This reminded me why I always flew flying wings
Putting this thing places that skywalkers only go when they are crashing, I was able to wind through trees, pull a massive loop, and top out at 86mph (I will get to 120mph... just need a little more Powa!)
I should have the video edited tonight (maybe) but im gonna go fly more!

FPVstyle.com may be getting some FPV cameras for less than $20. Ill be testing a few to see how they compare to the PZ0420 and other similar FPV cameras

Sweet! that would be awesome!
Ya Iv had too much fun flying mine... cut my friends wing in half doing some speed passes tried to save the footage but the last 4 min of mobius footage corrupted when the internal battery came unplugged...
Im trying to get more footage but have been crazy busy right now got about 2 hours of flight footage to edit just from the wing!

Well, its possible but...
Waterproof without having to MinWax it
Black shiny plastic
More Pro looking
More expensive overall
Eye candy, aesthetics.
uhh... yup thats it.
Much more expensive
Still a little heavier than the ply
Not so good for RF transmissions
Health risks for manufacturing, increased costs to contain risks
Doesn't bio-degrade, not yet recyclable... Pieces cut today will still exist 10,000 years from now in a landfill.
