Congrats! Very nice! The launch seemed a bit hairy at first. What a great field you have there.
P51 looked very nice in flight. Now you have no excuse to get the Eagle out & up.

the mustang fly's real nice but landing in the grass sucks

tryed the first landing in the grass all most broke the prop
had to walk way out to a baseball field that has a flat gravel landing strip to home base to land the other two times
and landed real nice but the battery on the camera ran out
the landing gear fix job i did from the stock worked real well
very strong

so iam going maiden the eagle tomorrow
or in my case the parrot
squak polly wants a battery
and i will take lots of video

Bhcnomo,
Nice flight.
I bet ya if you upgrade to a Park 480 motor with beefer diameter wire struts and maybe the larger Du-Bro diamond wheels, you will have no problems flying off the grass. Check out page #11. I used the E-Flite Texan 25e struts on a small AT-6 Texan, which is the same size as your Mustang, and I included the Du-Bro 2-1/2" Diamond Lite wheels. No problems taking off on the grass now. Just rate the struts as far forward as possible like that of the H-9 Mustang MKII PTS. Yes, not scale, but this set up seems to work for these little airplanes!

I broke my stock prop and need a good replacement. I tried a apc 9x4.5E and I could barley get off the ground. Running stock motor and ESC with 2200mah 3s 30c batt.

the stock prop was a GP9x4.5 S
this is what iam using now
APC 10 x 5 Thin Electric Prop
Park 480 910Kv by E-flite
the stock ESC
and a 3 cell 2200mAh 35c battery
never got to fly with the stock motor
but it flys real good with this setup

I also broke my prop and replaced it with an apc 9x4 prop, which is the same size as the one that came with the plane. This mustang flies very poorly with an apc prop. for a while I thought I burnt out my speed controller or the motor is self because the plane would hardly get of the ground. I ordered the stock prop from tower and the darnest thing problem fixed. Im still scratching my head on this one.

For what it's worth the stock prop is Electrifly GPMQ6630.
9x4.5 Power Flow Slo-Flyer. Maybe that little bit of extra pitch is what you were lacking

I found some 9x6 slofly props at the LHS and will try it this weekend. Will check with watt meter first. They say the stock motor is rated at 330 watts that should really haul the mail.

Spontaneous Glider

I was having fun during my lunch break with my P-51 today and everything was going fine. I got one flight in on my plane and landed it no problem.

I decided to let my more experienced coworker take it up and he was doing some very mild aerobatic flying with it when all of the sudden... the motor ripped away from the plane. The force that it ripped away with was enough to unplug the battery leaving him with no control.

The reason I say this is that I feel that the firewall is not sufficiently attached for the amount of torque that the motor can put out. Has anyone else experienced this?

(This has not been previously crashed)

I'm sad to see your plane like that. I suppose we should all take that as a warning to inspect our planes better. Looks like it's time to reinforce all those joints with some hot glue or whatever. Again you have my sorrow on your crash but I thank you for the heads up.

It just caught me off guard. It just separated and fell like a dead leaf from 50 feet up. Not a good thing to see but inevitable in the hobby I guess. Right when I got all the landing gear fixed all up so it won't rip off in a gentle landing too. On to the waiting game.
