A flying boat .... glider ?
The latest copy of the BMFA News, (UK's version of the AMA), has an article on the See Adler, (Germany 1935), an amphibious glider, yes a true un-powered glider.
Not exactly something I would have thought of, but someone must have thought it worth designing back then. Nor something I am every lightly to build, but still quite a pretty looking aircraft.

the DFS assault glider had a flying boat cousin for beach assaults. Brave man who did that
I thought the US where working on similar things too..
