Scale Model Castings/RPMTech

http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...1#post25477598

The above thread is one of several detailing negative experiences with the aforementioned company/'s.

I am seeking accounts of experiences with the owner/operator of Scale Model Castings/RPM-Tech, Rick Palumbo (Silent Hunter) both positive and negative in order to form a balanced view of numerous issues experienced by multiple customers including myself, with unfulfilled orders.

The intention is to use this thread to re-establish communication with Rick or encourage him to do so with all affected customers in a positive way, and afterwards to assist him with completing or compensating for unfulfilled orders that good money was paid for.

IN NO WAY is this thread to be used for open vilification or persecution. Rick is clearly very talented as a modeller and I am sure there are ways to help him resolve any issues affecting his ability to maintain his business. To not do so would be to lose his talent, abilities and contributions to the community at large.

Hello

I am a multiple customer of Ricks. I ordered some parts, paid and received them in a timely manor. I then made a deal with Rick to buy two small subs; Marder & Seehund. The payment arrangements were agreed to by Rick and there was regular emails. Then just before this past Christmas, Rick informed me that he was taking a bit of a break from the business to spend time with his father since he was not sure how much time he had with his father. He then said early in the New Year he would get my order out to me. I had NO reason to not believe him since to date his word was good with me. Well as of this posting, nothing has shown up and there is no email replies. I even went as far as wanting to order some more parts from him and try to nudge him about my overdue order, again no email reply. This is where I am now, out my money, not big compared to others but for a person on disability, it hurts!

I am still awaiting a hull from a master that I sent him last summer.
No monetary exchange, just a hull.
I give you the master to do with what you will. send me a hull in return.

Maybe his dad is still with us and he's trying his best to show his dad he loves him.

I got one of his SDM models a while back aand as the saying goes, 'as described; shipped quickly and very well packed!' Totally happy with his product and customer relations - and the model is very cool. I'm hoping to order a couple of his SDM engine pods soon as well. We'll see what happens...

My dad is no longer with us, but I would devote time to him if he were.

I can see where the guy is coming from---.

I would agree Kaptain, but it is not an excuse to sell product that is not ready to ship.

I am disappointed to see this thread.
Hope I get an SDM...

I agree Umi and I wish it did not have to be initiated, but it did. I too had a great first experience, ordered an SDM and it came quickly and well packed with everything I ordered.

I am confident that current issues could be resolved with more communication on Rick's part. I for example, would have no issues with him telling me directly that he requires a few months off for family reasons. At least it gives me some sort of timeframe on when the part may be delivered. But I do not even have that.....

On the other hand he shouldn't be backlogging orders that he doesn't have the manpower to complete in a timely manner. Any "locals" that may be able to assist him?

I'm thinking that Rick has problems that require more than a few months to resolve, and as such he should be given some slack.

My work area was slightly flooded recently, and the cleanup and drying-out has put me behind on my own orders.

Here's hoping my customers will understand that poop happens---.

Hello Again

Der kapitan

Your one person who is here regularly, one would hear from you reg. your situation. As for Rick, he has gone quiet for a long time now, even before the troubles in his part of the country. Family, I don`t know BECAUSE has has gone quiet.

There is NO comparison between your style of customer contact and Rick`s.

George

I actually wrote a letter to him, to ask for the tug boat hull back.
I had sent him the Patricia Winslow hull to him a while back for him to make a glass mold from. Remember?
I'd not heard from him so wrote to ask for the hull back.
He wrote me back and said he would send it back soon.
It was at a storage unit so he would have to go and dig it out.

We'll wait and see.
