Cheers Hexa. only had two pints, got to keep a clear head for tomorrow's work.

Plenty to do before its finished, but we are getting there.

Cross slide. It makes balancing very easy.

DSLR project. Next step is to install electronics and fly.
Going to test with a Nikon D90 and 18-105 lens. if tests go well we will then try out one of the Canon cameras. We will also try the Sony nex5n on the same rig.

Gimbal project. (0 min 41 sec)

gimbal

what is total weight? Your one vid said "added 1.5 kg"? Is that more weight added of what is already there? So, I'm expected to lift 5-6 lbs with camera? If so, I'm out. Looks great, according to your vids, but to me it's all about weight, (batts, flight time, etc.). The BL motor guys, simple BGC, and alum/carbon gimbal guys seem to have it right and will hit us soon. They have managed to keep it compact and light weight. In my opinion, if you are to bring this to market, you should focus on the same points ( size and weight) and most important, educate the masses on not needing a controller.

@Paul

Well done! You guys show the world, how a gimbal needs to be done.

best regards

Ferdinand

edit:
@vr360
Show me one gimbal for a DSLR (which is quite different to a GoPro) that meets your demands, just one ...
sorry for OT

Ferdinand & Todiolo. Cheers guys.

Managed to get some lathe work done today and installed electronics in roll box.
We were hoping to get some testing done, but we ran out of time. Hopefully we will get some tests done early next week.

Thanks CaoTri.
Cameras supported.
The tilt cage was measured to accommodate a 7d, but we will have to make the cross slide mech a little slimmer. So any camera up to that size really.
The sliding mechs have enough travel to balance from a Point and shoot to the DSLR size of camera.

About the cost of this gimbal.
Until we have all three axis in the air and perfectly stabilised it is worth nothing.

Nice work, what motors are you using?
by the way, I think setup is too complicated. I was using 3simple dc motors, and one arduino-like controller (no encoders, etc.). Here is my result:

This looks like it would be handy to get some good hand held video as well! Nice work, I look forward to your progress.

No testing done this past week as work has been busy.
This is just some extra footage from last weekend.
