Thrust Vectoring Ar6400+415/5320+MCX Ultra Micro Gear

here is the setup for my Walkalong Glider Transformation - free flight to lite weight vector thrust brick conversion!

three ball joints - two connected to servos on brick one mounted on tiny brick sled - 6mm motor DD with air hogs equivalent prop! Don't need much thrust for walk along just wanted to fly it nice and slow! floaty in a small room - probably gonna use 100mah for lipo try to keep everything under 8g

No control surfaces just thrust vector for a try...
of coarse will remove ball connectors and attach to brick via zbends

gonna pick these up from lhs this afternoon - mcx pushrods set for $5 should work perfect
EDit: These were too big, mcx parts for 8.5 VTDD
thinking I won't need sled - just a dab of hot glue behind brick to mount single ball joint to wing - pushrods to the other two and we're perfect! Concern ~ will the servos on the brick be messed up/effected by the thrust from the motor it will be a direct link after all... oh never mind Im sure the servos could handle 12g thrust

Neat idea! I always like watching the powered kites using this approach and having one small enough for the house would be cool. I would think the load on the servos will be less about motor thrust and more about rotational inertia of the armature. Either way keep a loop in the pushrods and the servos could be fine.

Looking forward to reading of your progress.

yes - rotational inertia of armature, should be alright not a lot of mass with tiny prop - clean up slop - like the design of the windrider walkalong glider seems to be perfect for lite weight vector, it was either a cheap dollar store kite or walkalong glider heck still may do a tiny vector thrust kite with other bricks

vector thrust ArBrick Mod

little bit of inertia but not bad at all - walkalong will love it!

AWSOME work elvill - you are quite the Tinkerer!

I'm also mucking around in the micro glider category - always interesting to see what your up too.

shanks man, much appreciated

viewed from several different angles I simply was not happy with accuracy! made a pushrod 'guide' to conteract inertia near the antenna - much more pleased with precision
Improved Thrust Vector Ar6400 (0 min 37 sec)

... imagining other tiny airframes could benefit from vector thrust - be easy to do 8.5mm motor VTDD...

setup weighs 9.8grams total with 70mah - it'll have to do, shooting for 8

yeah me too - havent done anything that actually moves the motor before. constraints right now is low thrust, I assume aerobatics are out if using 6mm motor even for the lightest of foams...

why I chose a walkalong glider as the platform - needs very little air and floats very well, directional air is what its all about! unfortunately @10grams it looks like Im going to have to scale up a larger walkalong glider than the netbought windrider - I want lofty super floaty flight and right now its a little heavy for windrider

You Know You're Lazy...

when you take the walk out of a "Walkalong Glider"

Okay lets see now ~ What is the wingspan of a walkalong gilder that needs about 10grams ballast? time to break out the abacus...

Hi,
I have a thrust vectoring project in mind, and i'm interested by your solution. Could you please provide a link to the plastic parts you are using, please? I don't understand what it is...
Thanks.

Quick and to the point I love it - Ming, I order 3 of your gliders - can't wait till they arrive! Do you have any idea what the walkalongs plastic 'cg' pieces weigh? sure it less than 10 grams...
