Turnigy T1000FC Autopilot

A fixed-wing stabilization system with GPS

Splash

Affordable auto pilot with return-to-home

Hobbyking.com has essentially filled every void possible with the announcement of another autopilot system... this time with GPS and return-to-home (RTH) capabilities. The Turnigy T1000FC autopilot is designed for fixed-wing applications and featured multiple flight modes for FPV pilots as well as line-of-sight flying for 3D and trainers.

There are 5 flight modes selectable in the T1000FC; autopilot mode (auto levels and does not let the aircraft roll or pitch past 45 degrees), 3D mode for sport flying, Flight mode (stabilization off), heading hold, altitude hold, and GPS return to home. It should be noted that this unit does not have an integrated on-screen display; it's a stand-alone autopilot only.

Features:

  • Safe and reliable design
  • Inertial vector measuring and barometer accurate in all-weather
  • Compatible with conventional and V-tail, delta and A-tail aircraft
  • Smart PID control leaving the adjustment to the flight controller
  • Multiple flight modes for beginners to 3D pilots
  • 3 full axis of stabilization
  • Smart self-control (45 degree limited roll and pitch in some flight modes)
  • GPS return to home Function

Includes:

  • T1000FC flight auto pilot
  • GPS module
  • Servo extensions
  • Set tool
  • Instructions

I keep coming back to it as well. I usually like my autopilots to have an integrated OSD for FPV, but this unit would be great for tooling around FPV and if you get lost, flip the RTH!

Price point is decent too.

What makes me want to buy one is that it seems pretty straight forward (altough I dont know how you want to control the 5 modes with something like a 3 position switch) to set up and use. All the other autopilots that feature RTH seem pretty complicated to set up and use, especially since pretty much every other autopilot comes with an OSD which makes things even more complicated.

Could not resist, I have ordered one to try with my EzOSD setup (RTH is the only thing lacking there) I also hope it doesn't get too switch greedy. Hopefully it will only NEED one.

Buddy code

Used the ArkBird Stabilization with OSD for FPV. From the HK daily video, seems that this works almost as well - just that it is without the OSD.

Eagletree better upgrade their Guardians, else those will end up as RC shop shelve adornments. Dang I still have a few of those.

Hi mrderp, I bought this before I saw your post. So I will queue next in line to you. Interested buyers can use this buddy code too. I will update this post once the code has been used. Currently still available.

Will this device work with a 6 channel receiver (Spectrum) and DX6i transmitter?

Looks nice. But why not get an HKPilot 2.5 + GPS for $30ish more and get:

1. Full waypoint programming
2. Multiple vehicle capability (quad, heli, car)
3. Loiter, circle
4. Whatever other features Ardupilot has (I have only used Arducopter).
5. A much smaller antenna

It's a serious question. It would be fun to put this on a BIxler or trainer for flight safety, but it seems too close in price and short on features compared to my HK Pilot.

What am I missing? Simplicity, ruggedness, and ease of use? Hmm, for $40-50, I'd cave.
