That would be a great place for information on that size of motor.

Hey guys... I have an OS 20 sitting on the bench aching to be put in a plane. I keep trying to reach these guys, but no answer? They working out of their house at night?

Thoughts on this plane, and my 20 OS?

Sweeet... After I run it into the ground a couple of times, we'll never know what color it is...

Will do Whisky.

Got a TX / RX question. I lost radio contact with an electric plane today, very similar to what happened to my little 15 OS fuel job.

Both planes had different RX's in them.

My Spektrum D6xi box will beep if the batteries are weak, but there is no display showing strength.

I'm going to replace those batteries tomorrow with brand new ones and plan on doing a Range Check on my newly built plane before I take it up, but talk about a weird feeling..

BTW, both planes were being flown at my local soccer field that I've been flying at for 6 months...

Thoughts?

What batteries are you using?
I would suspect rx batteries over the TX batteries.
If they are Nimh's or nicads they may need to be cycled and checked for capacity as well as current draw.
You may want to consider getting a charger like this one for under 25 bucks.
http://www.valuehobby.com/power-syst...6-charger.html
They are some great youtube video's on this charge on it's use and programming.
I think that plane will be a great fit for you OS 20.
My buddy and I did a OS 25 electric to glow conversion on a great planes super sportster EP. Man what a screamer.

Hi there Kerwin...

Batteries for the RX was a 2200 Lipo on the electric plane that crashed yesterday. On the nitro plane HydriMax 750mAh 4.8v Rechargable NiMH .

For the TX, your everyday run of the mill Double A batteries.

Now I'm not sure I want to send that new plane up in the sky this weekend. I'm going to contact the folks that make the TX today, to get their input.

I do have another TX. It's a Spektrum as well. It's only 3 channel, but I very seldom use a rudder anyway. It came with my Supercub when I bought it..

Yeah, I think I'm going to get the other plane as well.

don't know how old your batt's are in your tranny, but a handful of AA's seems cheaper and easier then a new plane!
never hurts to be sure! I would change them out if you have any questions!

No doubt about it... Now that this has me thinking, I believe I'll change them out pretty much every other outing.

you might want too look in the radio gear section, I am sure there are several options for like nihm, life, or lipo batt. replacement for that radio!
I know some of the guys in my club, swear that with a 2 cell lipo,(don't know what Ma,) that they only hafta charge once a year!
don't know how much they fly that particular radio! but worth a look!

P.s. only spectrum I own is a DX4e I got with my MCPX! so no expert with that brand here!

I use a Lipo in my DX7s. Fly everyweek and only charge it every 3 weeks only to be on the safe side. The original NiCad pack wouldn't even get me thru the day.

I didn't know I could use anything other than double A batteries for my D6Xi radio... I have options?

I'll look through this thread

http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=815187

and see if I have a way to replace the 4 batteries in the back with something else, but I don't see how.

I saw this down around mid-page on the first page..

I charged the DX6i like I always do: overnight. Full-charge voltage was 5.5V.
I set up a couple of planes on it, recorded the video and took some pictures of the process. Total time: 30-40 minutes.
I took the radio and some of the aircraft to the field for about 1.5 hours of R&R.
I tinkered with it some more at the workshop, for about 20 minutes or so.
By that time, the voltage had gone from 5.5V to between 5 and 5.1V — not too bad for 2.5 to 3 hours of operation.

But I don't see a way to charge anything like a pack on the back of mine. I think what I may be seeing is that folks are using rechargeable Double A sized batteries, instead of the old Alkaline types.
