I plan on mirroring the red trim on the wing to match the tail, put a red tip on the fin. For those that may have missed my prior Minx thread, it is plans built was designed by Andy Telzer with an article in EFI. Got me into EDF cause it was so cool. The ultra designation is due to the gear in it, orig it had a speed 300 brushed motor and 7 600ae cells. Now I have a razor 300 BL mounted wireless, a castle creations BL controller will use a berg stamp (very light) and will use either 7 or 8 KAN or HECELL 2/3a packs or a 3s2 or 3p 1200 etec lipo. It is covered with topflight econokote, cause I like the opacness (sp) and it goes around compound curves very well. I hope for around 120 watts and about 14oz. I am trying to finish and trim out before SEFF.

Looking great Dave. It's about time you finished it. I'm sure all the hard work is going to make for a great flying plane. Power sounds good too.

Thanks Dave. That would be Monday morning. Should be a non event, the plane has been flying sucessfully in the UK by the original designer for a while now.

The original was wood built. The tails were enlarged by him at my request to improve the slow flying, since I'm going to hand launch it. He tested his with the new tails and it was just fine.

So here's keeping my fingers crossed. With 420 watts in a 38 oz. bird it ought to go!

Dave,

You seem to be the Minx expert.

What does it take to get one of these things flying? I have always liked the way it looks..

I just don't want to have to carve huge chunks of foam..

Well the foam is a problem if you don't have a hot wire cutter. Carving the outside is not that difficult. I am just about finished covering it, only have the control surfaces to do and then hook up.

Nice Dave,
All in favor of Dave selling foam parts kits for the Minx say I.

Hmmm, makes me want to throw anoter one togeter and slap the Vasa 55 and B 20 in it. It was a great flyer with the speed 300 and Vasa on 7 720 Nimh cells. I think it was the first plane I built from all F3 foam. I think I could do a better job and actually be lighter and put some paint on it .

Dave-

So would the wire cutter from Hobby Lobby with some d cell's be enough? I really love this plane.. But don't like foam.
