It's not that much work, just a little glass servos, oh a new nose and you are ready for paint, 3 days at your pace.

See, you are slowing down - you should have flown it already!

Oh wait, UPS sending the servos again? Never mind. He will probably have fit
full size servos in the mean time.

And there is an ISR build night tonight......

Production scale slope building - I like it!

I do already have most of the damage fixed. Just need to fix the cosmetics now. Then I need to get a motor, servos, batteries etc.

Which west systems glass do you use? epoxy or sanding resin or what?

also...

Is the fiberglass tape actually sticky so that you can get a smooth application...ie you just tape it down then glass it?

lastly...

where can you buy that stuff from a storefront?

I finished the wing on my BL p51 and am ready for the next step and I wasnt sure what to use...

cheers!

If you are talking about the glass for the bottom of the rudder you can just use CA (Thin) if you don't have resin. West systems will cost you a fortune. All I do is place a small bit of fiberglass cloth over the bottom of the rudder and onto the fuse an inch or two, then apply the resin or the CA.(what every you have laying around). Once it dries sand it a little and then put filler on it and sand it smooth (I use bondo). See attached plans

Thanks for the plans..they are basically the same as what you sent with the kit, if not the same.

Ill do that for the tail, but I was more thinking of the joining of the wings. I have some 5 minute epoxy but the directions call for glass. Would 10 minute epoxy work over the fiberglass or should that be proper fiberglass resin...I know i am probably overthinking this but I want to make it strong.

also, When you say "fiberglass tape" is that actually a type of tape as per my earlier question.

cheers and thanks for all the help...I hope to have her ready for the PSS fest in may.

For the wing, any fiberglass will work. Tape, cloth whatever. The more you put on the stronger the joint will be. 5 or 10 minute epoxy is probably too thick to wet out the cloth. 30 minute epoxy is thick too but it at least gives you enough time to wet the cloth. If you want to use 30 min epoxy, you put the epoxy on the wing, then lay the glass over that. Put some wax paper over it and then rub the cloth into the epoxy. Once it dries remove the wax paper.
