So i'm new to this forum but been flying the indoor Heli's awhile, i have 6 of them and consider to be a little bit better then average at them.

It seems like its time to move up to the bigger 26" type ones. With the research i've been doing i think i've decided to get the DH 9101. I've flown the S033G and thought it was just "decent". Now i'm not looking for a revolation in this 9101, but i'm curious as to what others think who've flown different ones. Money IS an issue so i can't be spending tons on these things.

What exactly are you attempting to accomplish? All 3 channel coaxes exhibit the same flight characteristics. Size doesn't change them. You will not be advancing your skills, if that's the objective. For that, you are going to have to move to more channels, not more size.

My $0.02:

Instead of moving up in size (which I did at one time as well, and was dissappointed) , move up in performance instead. Try something like a 4ch single rotor V911, easy transition, fast, nimble, durable, inexpensive to buy and maintain.

Then, if size still matters, you can look at larger helis along the same lines.

I'm looking more into just getting outside with these things. If that means staying with a 3ch then so be it for the time being. looking at the prices of most of the 4ch (unless i just havent seen the right ones) they are just to expensive for me at this time. I know i'll get a 4 ch eventually, but just being able to get outside and get some distance flying would be ok, i'm tired of being limited to the inside of my house!

You do understand that 3 channel coaxes are helpless in any kind of wind? Exactly what sort of budget are we talking about here?

I do understand that about the wind, i've flown the S033g with a little wind and didnt have to many problems. I'm curious about the DH 9101 in comparison or compared to another version. I dont want to get another indoor type for now. If there are 4ch outdoor ones for around $50 then i'd do that, but i just dont see then anywhere.

It sounds like you are equating large size with outdoor capability. And of course that's how they are advertised.

Bigger is not better when it comes to coaxials, especially 3ch's, they are just bigger. I have a MJX-T23 which is same size as the DH-9101, and it can be fun and visually impressive when hovering around on a calm day, but you may very quickly want more. And then they look impressive on the shelf.

I understand that you have a limited budget, as most of us do, and some of those big 3ch coax's are attainable. But I think the best bang for your 50 bucks is a V911 or 9958 or similar. They aren't big but they are big fun - check out some online videos. The choice, of course, is yours.

I agree with Gordonzo. The 9958 and V911 are more capable outdoors, especially the 9958.

I'll check them out, thx. I never considered the tiny ones, i just assumed they'd do even worse outdoors then the bigger ones. I understand they are all gonna have issues with wind, i'm sure the monster ones do also. thx for the help

9101 is a good outdoor flyer without the wind. I usually fly late afternoons when everything calms down. It is a step up from the 9053 and a bargain at 40 bucks delivered from Amazon.

ty tiger, did you have to add weight to the nose or do anything else that i keep reading about to get it to fly better? I havent decided which route to go yet, but i'm guessing if i just want the size i'll go with the 9101. If i just want the 4ch feel i'll prolly go with the 9958

Yes. Packed the nose of the canopy with about 1 inch of plumbers puddy and stuck 3 quarters into that for weight.. That's all.

You have to figure that into your actual cost - $40.75

So how much does that added weight improve its ability to cut into the breeze? I might try that on my T23.

Let's see here 75c US * 1.027 = 77c CDN. That should work for me.
