Hi, I've had a search around, but I've not found out whether or not the Wing Bird can glide if you pause the flapping? Or are the wings too small to generate enough lift?

the components you have selected look good , remember you want a TX or a seperate mixer that will handle elevon mixing for the tail , i don't think the problem with glide is that it is too small so much as there is no lock on the wings and they will move to the top of their throw ( pigeon ) , dana

When I'am landing i cut the power fast and the wings most of the time go into pigeon mode and it semi glides to the ground or i do that in the sky also.

I've got a JR PCM9X so mixing in that shouldnt be a problem.

I'm slightly tentative at the price..... I know this will sound weird, but i'm tossing up between this and a shockflyer stup for Full 3D lol!

unfortunately its a similar price too!!! Cos I would go the wing bird first if it were cheaper.... after all the electronics and the brushless..............

Well, they pretty much just fly and turn and maybe glide. If you're lucky you may get a semi-approximation of a loop. But there's nothing else like it as far as effect. The HX Bird (Cybird clone) I modified looks a lot like a real bird when it's flying. Though it's not as difficult to fly as 3D, you really have to stay on top of it because the control response is more like pulling on a kite string than flying an RC plane. There is often a slight delay to inputs so you have to somewhat anticipate your next move, especially in a slight breeze. They don't handle much wind. I haven't had a good sustained flight in winds much over 7 MPH. It's a novelty and when the weather is right, it really impresses the spectators.

hmmmmm.... is the HX cheaper than the Wing Bird? Unfortunately I'm in Australia and its much harder sourcing kits and parts!

Anyway thanks again guys, I may go the shockflyer for now... however the wing bird is still on the books, for when i have more cash

More a bird is small and more the flapping & fly is fast.
The wingbird has not Glide system.
It flies very well with the Feigao 1208428 , but , for me it is not a toy, or an ornithopter for a beginner.
The assembly must be made very carefully ;
To glide, I advise my customers the Slowhawk 1 (1.50m), Slowhawk 2 (1.20m)

yup no gliding,everytime i tried it it stuck in the ground like a lawn dart!
