Hi lonesomebob,I am also a beginner at this forum annd flying.I made the mistake of buying a motor and speed control before i read up on it.I suggest going thru the threads and looking at trainer planes to get you in the air.I also suggest you go by most builder's rules and go LIGHT.These lil cd motors that weigh around 19 to 22 grams will push most of the trainers just fine.Just stick by what the builder chooses. The trainer i hear the most about is trainer1,i think that is your choice though. The place i get my stuff from is Hobbycity, cheap, but it is hongkong.DO NOT order any item that is backordered,u will wait forever. They will get most stuff to you in 2-3 weeks. They have 19 gram motors for 8 a piece and cheap hxt servos i have heard good stuff about, the 900 is 9 grams. They are now carrying 8 dollar speed controls, but i havent heard a review about em yet.Ask questions in the thread u choose to build from, and they will steer u to the right motor and speed control and battery size you need. Here is a thread for a glossary. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=441528
