I don't think the X Series 1800kv motor is rated for 3S but I know some have done so successfully, IIRC Dan.50 is one that springs to mind. IMO not the ideal motor for 3S but fantastic on 2S for the Crack Yak but not quite enough grunt for the Pitts. I do have some X Series 1480kv motors that are also not rated for 3S however I have run the numbers and like what I see so am going to see if one of them stands up to the abuse.

The specs for that motor say it would be good for 3S but not what prop to use. I suspect that you could use a nine inch prop on 2S to give you more power from it and your eight inch on 3S. The only way to know for sure is to hook it up to a wattmeter.

Ok, I'll get a 3s pack for the fat yak and give it a go, I'm happy with 2s on the slim yak, as I found out today it DOESN'T like the wind ... Thanks.

Power system was out of stock when i did my cy. I went Motrofly 2205-1800 which has mad power on 2s. A buddy did extra slick with power combo shortly after flying my cy and while power was not bad he put a Motrofly on his slick the next week. Hacker A10-9l I've flown on similar sized epp and close to twisted combo but runs pretty hot, Motrofly runs very cool btw. For servos I'm loving futaba s-3114's.

Yeah I don't know... my parents gave that tree a name - "Old Half-a-day" a long time ago So I guess they're really attached to the tree or something...

I'm actually REALLY lucky because there used to be a HUGE tree almost right in the middle of the backyard, further down the hill. When it got cut down it left this ravine in our yard...

OK so I just got back inside from a Crack Yak flight...

So about halfway through the flight I made a stupid thumb movement and the nose when straight into the ground. So I picked it up and kept on flying because there seemed to be no damage when I checked. Well, it wasn't flying right. Something about it was "sloppy" or not like it used to be so I did a little more flying and confirmed that something was wrong. I landed it and that's when I noticed that there was about a 1 1/2 inch gash between the wing and middle part. LOL

Threw some Welder's on it and it'll be back up in flying in a little bit.

Gotta love EPP...
