Well done! That looks very nice! But what if you don't have a 3/4" piece of foam to drop down through? Can it be used on thin skinned UA that have either composite or ABS skins and still be fully retractable?

The 3/4" foam is the only think I had to test because I sold all my planes, most foam planes are 1/2"-3/4" thick , but it will work much better with thinner fuselages like fiberglass, etc. because then the camera will drop lower.

What is the overall height from the baseplate to the top of the servo in the retracted position?

Not at the moment sorry. The GWS winch servo cost less than $20 shipped from different places and the others you can buy them very cheap at HK.
