60 Minutes Documents Forged?

That's been the talk on the blogs for the past couple of hours. Apparently the "documents discovered in Killians personal files" are fake, and obvious ones at that.

See if you can identify all the give-away signs before they take em down:
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/...in641481.shtml

If you can't, just check out -

http://www.washingtonmonthly.com/arc..._09/004658.php
http://www.vivaw.org/en

etc..

This will be juicy for the next couple of days, at least.. was it a setup? Who is behind the docs??

Is this the same Barnes who testified under oath in a civil case in 1999 that he had no contact whatsoever with the Bush family in regards to helping GW get into the Texas ANG?
The same Barnes who has described himself as 'politically ambitious and did what was necessary to get ahead?'
The same Barnes who is heavily involved in Kerry's campaign?
The same Barnes who personally raised over $100,000 for Kerry?
The same Barnes who calls Kerry a close personal friend?
The same Barnes who is considered a 'lock' for a position in the Kerry administration?
The same Barnes who has a home on Nantuckett very near Kerry's?
Me thinks the rat stinketh.

Democrats wouldn't stoop that low. I think they had these in their back pocket from day one and were waiting to bring them out IF within 2 months of the election Kerry was down in the polls.

Surprise, surprise, it's 50+ days and Kerry's down by 7 points ... brilliant if you ask me.

Read Post # 38 here

Big Foot 48 has done an excellent job of explaining it all.

One of the things to be explained...
As mentioned, typewriters don't do this...

I know you can do superscripts with a manual typewriter, as I did it many times in college. However, you don't wind up with a different size font when doing it that way.

Bill B.

No, I don't like Bush that much, but I detest Kerry.

Of course you can do that with a typewriter Bill, but that's NOT superscript, that's just "offset" ("up"set?) type.

It's the "true" superscript in the so called 30 year old document with the SMALLER font that PROVES it's a hoax. Even if everything else looked really good, that one little superscript detail means the whole thing is bogus.

I'd really like to see some other documents typed up on the same day from the same office.

I'm sure they're around, and would shed some light into the hoax.

Viper

PS It's a shame that Killiam can't be cross-examined, but that would require an exhumation (sp???)

National Guard

BTW, for all you youngsters out there, in 1969 everyone who didn't want to be drafted was trying to get into the National Guard. I know, I tried. Knowing someone who could make the right call or pull strings was the name of the game. If Bush did that then he only did what everyone else was trying to do.

Ah yes, those were fun days.

BF,

Me, too. But I ended up enlisting in the Navy rather than wait for my "Congratulations . . . ." letter.

I'd almost bet money that James Carville didn't know that until today!!!

Not the same date, but quite differing presentations...
Different offices?
The latest was dated 1973..
Haven't heard anything on CBS about this for the evening news yet.

Viper, I spent two years in Air Force ROTC, then was to be kicked out of college for low grades, tried for NG and failed, took the test for Army OCS and they wanted me, but then got accepted back into college when I begged for a second chance, kept my deferment, and ended up with a 322 lottery number.

Respect to all who did serve.

Viper, you and JFK have something in common! Did you try for studies in Paris also and get turned down?

Hmm. Might the fact the composer of these forgeries had no idea about typewriters indicate their age? Whether Rove is behind this or not, I think it does indicate that the CBS "fact checkers" are probably under 30, likely liberal leaning. And the older management and reporters at CBS obviously do not do any work themselves anymore... they just dole it out to the grunts.

Wonder what they will be calling this... Typewritergate? Selectricgate? Billgatesgate?
