F89 Scorpian drawings now available

http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1529537

Autocad generated drawings for a beautifully rendered 1/12 scale F89 are now available. Designed for twin 70 mm EDF's with a 60" WS and retracts, AUW - ~90 ounces, 30-32 ounce/sq.ft. wing load.

Both of mine flew on a single 4000 mAhr pack, WM400's and HET 3W motors. I do think better motors with 5S or 6S packs would be a better approach as the AUW could be reduced.

While not a first timer project, anyone with a some building experience should be able to complete the plane.

If interested, look at the build thread above and contact Wm Brown direct for the drawing package. I do believe Manzanno does the laser burning.

Contact Wm via PM or email at Flower@southwind.com

Hi Larry, I switched from 4s to 5s minimum. The 4W will drop amps and increase watts. The packed can be resized to 3000-5s. Plus only a 30A ESC is needed. More weight savings. It gets even better with 6s

Fuzz,

Nice to see you're still around RCG.

I know you are correct but I am backing away from RC a little. After the disastrous losses of the F4, my new F89, an A10 and a scratch-built canard type my enthusiasm for all things RC has waned considerably. In fact I stayed away from any flying for a year.

The only plane I now have flying is an HET F86 ARF. I finished it using bits and pieces I had in the junk box. The only things purchased were two (2) 3Sx2200 packs to power the HET 2W motor.

Whether or not I will delve into the 5S or 6S territory remains to be seen but right now for the foreseeable future I think I will just sit back and enjoy some stress free flying once a while.

I understand completely, Larry. I have not worked on anything since January. I 'm just flying some foamies, that I care less about, than the "woodies". As long as we are enjoying ourselves, that all that matters.
