Well I made my first 3DHS purchase last... Based on me tell you guys in this thread I'm sure you can figure it out. :-)

First question about the 51... What prop spinner are you guys using?

Thanks,
Greg

Wow I just realized I never posted my crash video from the other day in this thread!

Disclaimer... no planes were seriously injured in the filming of this stunt
P1030389 (0 min 0 sec)

btw. I initially blamed it on the rudder servo but it was actually my fault. The servo arm had come loose and allowed the arm to jump teeth all the way to being stuck at that position when the servo was centered. I'm guessing there was enough air pressure on the surface to keep it deflected while the servo went to center. All is good to go again now

I'm just wrapping up the build of this plane myself and have not flown it yet, however, I purchased the Great Planes 2 inch spinner with aluminum back.

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXBMY0&P=M

It needs to be trimmed if you're going to use a Xoar wood prop., but it has markings on the inside of the spinner to help guide you when enlarging the openings. I hope to size mine today and mount the prop. and spinner. I'll post pictures later tonight if I get it done.

It has a 6.5mm shaft opening that can be expanded to 8mm.

The only thing I would have liked is if it had a 6mm shaft opening to perfectly match the shaft of the Motrolfly.

Yea, the EF spinners work great. No muss, no fuss. Just put it on and you're good to go.

yes, the EF spinners are great. However I have been flying without spinners lately to allow more air to run over my motor.

I really don't use spinners. They look good but I see them as a hassle.

This is what happens when your canopy latch comes out on a high g move.

So what's everyone's take on the recommended Hacker motor? I went with all the recommended equipment to now hear that many people are suffering motor failures and switching to the Motrofly...

Motrolfly generally runs cooler than hacker. More options for KV with the custom winds you can get/etc.

I went through two hackers in one season. Just depends on the flying style.

Thats no good... I'd rather not have a failure while low and slow. Guess I should off-load that hacker while it's still NIB.
