1/6 scale Evans VP-1 Standard
My club has a scale event every year but I've never had a scale model to enter into it
What could be easier than that full-scale "model", the Volksplane ?
Not much to show yet, but I've got the plans pretty much worked out on paper and have started on engine selection / engine mounts:
This spring I built a SIG 4-Star 20, and originally powered it with an ASP .15. As it turns out the 4-Star 20 is about the same size as a 1/6 scale VP-1. The engine was adequate for the 4-Star, but performance was nothing to wake up the kids about or anything... Probably about scale performance for a VP-1 with a 40 hp VW engine, I'm thinking So that's what we're going with.
The engine is going to be inverted, which should pretty well hide it inside a cowling with VW heads stuck on.
I'm in search of photos of the VP-1 prototype, which, as I understand it, is on display in Oshkosh. Thought I'd go for that look...
More as things progress!
