A sneaky peek of a soon to be released Spartan RC product (summer 2011)

Filmed on a Nokia Smart fone by me(him of the sore finger) not intended as a product review... it's just too kool not to share

Apologies for quality of vid and editing... but please enjoy (oh and look out for an apperance of the FPV Police )

Stealthwing over Didcot (day 1) (9 min 3 sec)

I am friends with the boys at Spartan hence these 'spy' clips

Outstanding!
I'd love to know more about your new product!
My dad was US Air Force stationed at Mildenhall in the early 70's.
I loved our time there and hope to visit summer of 2012.

Not too muchto say really...

It will be available stand alone as just the controller, or as a kit with the very high qaulity LED's used in this demo. It's a very small unit (the boys @ spartan specialise in shrinking things right down... You should check out their other products) and their aim is allways plug and play, but with user options.

Beta units are being assembled now for a select few lucky UK fpv pilots with night flying experiance, after which any final additions to the pcb's will be made and production expected sometime in june. I can't wait.... We plan on at least 3 60 inch Stealthwing FPV ships flying in formation at nite and cycling thru the NFX effects for some of the UK's most witnessed 'UFO sightings'

Milenhall is a bit out of my area but apent quite a bit of time on a couple of US bases herein the UK - Greenham common and Upper Heyford before they were closed down.

Well now... Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a Bannana....

Expect a new vid in the next few weeks of this very plane, flown FPV, recorded from a chase plane at night...

Sorry for the delay... too many other projects and more importantly PRODUCTS slowed this one up, more news soon!

Getting closer... code has been changed so it now works with 433 as well as 2.4, just the Vtx and antenna to mount and we can do a couple of test flights. Oh and I need to do a few repairs to my wing before I can chase this... Mine has 15w of white LED's and easy to keep tabs on two miles away (have had friends in local villages give me reports when we have been flying) . The only 'effect' is a 3 second burst of light followed by 6 seconds of nothing... switchable whilst in air... makes it look like its going twice as fast!

They will make for a great pair of UFO's in the skies

Very cool Paul......do you get any write ups in the local paper of people seeing these "UFO's"?
The commentary is just as enjoyable as the video, makes you feel like a couple of kids when you're having that much fun doesn't it?

Many thanks Todolo... for the compliments. Yes I really did feel like a kid again, very fortunate to have found Angelos - a damn good friend in the normal sense and him being so good at electronics, and being involved with RC for a business makes him very usefull in my FPV hobby too! ( I have learn't so much!)

No reports in the papers yet but at least 15 reports up on UK UFO Sighting websites. What most impresses me is that the 'witness' statements are so GOOD. No embelishments... It stuns me that they can remember the flight pattern, describe EXACTLY the lights they have seen (this is on my white LED only Pusagi Delta which has two blocks of LEDS on top of leading edge at nose, two long strips along lower edge LE, and also small strips inboard and outboard on wingtips.... So the effect of a 'triangle', 'two dots' or a blur of bl;azing lights is exactly what my spotter sees depending on if I am over or under 500m away, travelling to or from the viewer etc...

The only thing no one ever gets correct is the speed or the size of the craft... but then I deliberately fly 'haphazardly' (not to a conventional flight path) and use the constant on/ flashing or off function of the lights to further confuse any alien spotters!

I do voice overs/ narration/ commentary/ presenting part time so I especially apreciate your kind words!

Good news is that the Spartan Stealthwing NFX made its FPV maiden flight earlier this evening in some VERY blustery conditions and performed extremely well, very solid video link. We are both a bit too tired to do night time FPV maiden tonight, but it is most likely over next 3 nights. Sadly chase video will not be untill toward the end of next week as I have no energy/ time to make the repairs to the Pusagi... and our favoured spotter/ fellow FPVer is off on vacation for a few days... With two rigs airborne at night we are going to need at least 3 competant spotters to assist. We do things VERY safely here..

Paul

p.s. This will be worth the wait paitient readers.. the next video I post on hear will knock your socks off!!

Well....

We managed to get a five minute window in what was quite frankly torrential rain on the evening of what was suppose to be a two day event last night. FPVers from all over the UK attended, some had seen the NFX functions on the ground, and seen the above videos..... but they were blown away by seeing it in the sky, flying FPV with the 'Predator' mode engaged (New name for the white block bouncing from nose to wingtips and back!)

Anyhow... after some FPV testing last Sunday and Wednesday a huge amount of talk of the UFO has been generated around my home village and town, despite the lateness of our flight many people witnessed it .... We are set to go tomorrow night.

Many comunities are having firework displays in conjunction with beacons to celebrate our Queens diamond Jubilee. The Pusagi is flying again ( just two flights yesterday as so many people to chat to/ compare set ups with!) and we have our spotters arranged. The only downside is a lack of on board recording BUT I always record the downlink....

It may happen (vid on here of the NFX in action from above/ behind etc) but I make no Promises... IF and it's a big IF there is a safe approach and exit I may well not be able to risk flying with fireworks again... it's my fav FPV activity. When I say safe I mean no crowds... the way the Fireworks are normally set up I will have no problem... but you know how these things go...

So which will the people like the most.... 15watts of white lights or the amazing technicolour NFX.... there is only one way to find out... (UK reference there, you have to have seen TV Burp!!)

Paul

fingers crossed...

Managed to get both rigs in the sky, but not at the same time.

A lot of people saw both (the UFO attacking the fireworks is the best romour going round)

Bad sadly no video to show you of a chase. We shot some more ground footage, but thats no different from what you see above....

Soon I promise!
