Why 3 blades? 'Bolts always used 4 blade props. There's an enormous amount of info on this thread about prop selection if you use the search function.

If you really want to do an upgrade right out of the box on this plane, then the first thing to do is the extra 300 prop. Next is to upgrade to a more reliable ESC (usually bigger at the same time), as I and others have had the BEC fail on the stock units. Many people will just put in an external BEC.

This is probably the best out-of-the-box plane of all time. It doesn't need anything to be a great flyer. Fly it stock or with the E300 prop for a bit first.

That being said, it's also a fantastic platform for modding and tinkering around. But don't forget that it's pretty much awesome already.

i know brother.. im not looking for more performance... its just that i happen to have an obsession with the sound of a good 3 blade prop thats the only reason to be honest...

Can I get a part number for a nice 4 blade that won't burn out the stock P-47D ESC?

Not that will give anything like the stock props performance.....

APC 9x6x4, 10x6x4 and 11x6x4 will all work, the 11 is pushing it right to the max.

But all three offer nowhere near the performance of stock 2 blade, the 9 inch will only just fly it flat out.

sounds like the apc 10x6x4 would work but the speed will suffer accordingly. ECALC is a great reference for prop investigation. i have had fun looking at it alot.

I simply wouldn't try it. The stock 30Amp ESC will not last. And when it goes the plane will crash. (if the ESC fails you also lose all power to the controls!)

If you want a 4blade do it right an get a lower KV motor and a bigger ESC, to be safe throw an external BEC in there.

edit: The APC 9x6x4 might, just might work, however the plane will fly poorly, and to be honest the APC 9x6x4 doesn't look scale at all so you really dont get much in the way of improved looks.

If I were you, I would invest in a watt meter, like the watts up meter. Very helpful for playing around with electric set ups, I use mine a lot, and it's saved me from over amping setups a few times.

im going to run the extra 300 prop to start and maybe play with the 10x6x4 for fun, but i have a external bec wired in for unexpected drama! i have a feeling the 4 blade will be installed just to keep it looking BETTER hanging in my studio. i love speed too much to clip her wings as she is just a sweet looking bird and meant to fly!

For scale, the only option is the hobby lobby 11" 4 blade. If you want good performance, you'll need a lower Kv motor and bigger ESC (still on 3s). )(Again search the thread for full info on this prop).

The bigger the better. A true scale prop for this bird would be a hair over 13".

i fly the hobby-lobby 9.5x10x4 on a 4s with a turnigy g25 710 kv motor with a castle 75amp ice lite esc and a castle 10amp bec and it great. she is fast and looks scale also
