I was asked to test fly an auto-G2 today. I have one of the original auto-Gs, which has had lots of flying time.

I setup the radio, and all looked good, so off we went.

All went OK, but I noticed a very strange thing. using rudder to initiate a right turn worked as expected, but using rudder to initiate a left turn did not. It caused a roll to the right. I could not explain this. any ideas ?

I flew the battery out, but he only had one battery, so no more flying possible.

cheers
Ian

Ian,
I think it is being caused by the extra mass of the pre rotator moving the CG mass upwards. Shortening the mast will probably cure it.

Thanks Rich. I hadn't thought of that. Only problem is that shortening the mast won't be that easy. Perhaps adding some weight underneath, or some heavy wheels might lower the CG enough. I'll get him to try that first.

cheers

You are shutting off the pre-rotate after take-off? Mine turns well both ways, and it's a G-2, but the pre-rotate does make a little difference, turning left.

The pre-rotate was turned off PRIOR to take off :-)

No problem NB0W. Im still working on it (& some others) but will be sending it to the phoenix guys pretty soon to add to the auto updater, I will also post the files in this thread.

If anyone is interested I could do with some help just to double check how close it feels to the real thing.
