That was all paint. I'd have Callie Graphics make the decals if I ever did another one. She did the decals on my other GWS P-38.

Guys,
I never saw that scheme before. It is very nice. Great choice. Good luck again on your flight Degreen.

I just got a kit from a buddy of mine and just found this thread. I am thinking about getting some touch up paint for the little scuffs I have on the wings. Any suggestions at to what kind of paint to get that won't eat the foam?

I use acrylic paint. Buy it at Walmart. Thin it with glass cleaner. I either brush or spray it on the plane. I mix some to try to match colors but most of the time is just close in matching. Some times I repaint the whole area.

Any water based paint will work. Take a piece of the plane down to Home Depot, Lowe's or Ace Hardware and get a color match sample. It'll cost less than $5 and give you more touch up paint then you'll ever need.

The elevator servo failed and nose dived the P-38 into the ground. Not straight in but buried the nose in the ground. When I pulled the nose cone out of the ground it was unhurt. The Gorilla glue coating on the inside made the cone strong enough to save it. I only had to watch the dirt off and it is good to go. Wish I could say the same for the cowls. Both are broken. The plane hit so hard the vacuum formed pilot came loose. It broke the canopy. I have a complete set of new plastic parts so as soon as the plane is repaired it will be ready to fly again. First thing I am doing with one of the new cowls is making a plaster of paris mold so I can heat shrink soda bottle cowls. I wish GWS would use PETE plastic for parts. It makes almost indestructible parts.
