Help!
Used CG boat with lots of deck lights

Hi all, I got this Essex island class CG cutter with lots of lights and resistors. I was told they are not the original lights all are upgrades. I have never done anything with lights, in fact this will be my first rebuild. I am hopping some of you can help me out with the lights and electrical. I don't even want to test anything till I know what I have. I will post some pics, if you need me to post more please let me know.

thanks guys

It looks as though all the lights on the model are LEDís and as such will operate at 2 to 3 volts. The search light was originally a 3 volt bulb but it may have been changed to a LED also. I cannot see where the wiring terminates and what the power source was to power up the wiring for the LEDís. Since you are running LEDís for lighting you must make sure of your polarity on the wires. Ledís only run one way.

Normal voltage to the LED's would be 3 VDC; since the builder installed resistors, you can use up to 12 VDC to power the light system. Usually the resistor is installed on the positive (long) lead to the LED.

Can you verify the color bands on the blue resistors?
That may help decipher whether the model was 6 or 12 volts to the lighting.

Looks as though there are few versions of resistors aboard.

[FONT="Arial"][SIZE="3"]When reading the resistance of the resistor banding throw out the GOLD OR silver end bands as they are percentage of tolerance of the resistor. To add you in reading the resistor ohms I have listed the chart for reading the value of the resistor.
