Another Blue Angel

Rusty, here is my Blue Angel. Or rather as close as I've gotten to completing it. It is hand cut out of wood vs a fiberglass version.

David- Thank you for your nice comments, your model looks terrific!

Building photos-

The Wega/Sunshine kit was a combination of excellent fuselage and pre-sheeted wing and stabs...with odd aileron details and incorrect wing and stab tips.

Dave Guerin used the 3-view drawing provided in an article written by Yoshioka following the 1973 WC. He created laminated ailerons vs. the kit engineered "barn door" style, removed the fixed gear blocks and add the proper shaped wing tips.

Dave is a fantastic painter using PPG base coat/clear coat with a catalyzed urethane clear. Monokote is applied with individual pieces stuck directly to the wood. Admirers of the model swear it is 100% paint.

1973 Blue Angel "Replica"...available!

1973 Blue Angel "Replica"...is available!!

Each year I have created models that I dreamed of as a kid and I have just run out of room! The new 2011 models (3) and the "on schedule" 2012 models (7) are quickly consuming my energy, available storage space and provide an opportunity for you to pick up an extraordinary model!

The Blue Angel, as described in this thread, is virtually perfect, has not flown since it debuted in May of 2010 and is available "bind and fly". If the buyer has a Futaba 14MZ I will provide my flight program as well.

$2,750 excluding shipping.

I would consider accepting specific items in trade including NIB Southern R/C Compensator kit, DA 50R, OS Hanno Special, Webra .61 "Boxer" and PayPal. I will meet the buyer up to 5 hours away from Chicago.

Thanks for the heads-up for #XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

I am currently seeking a NIB Southern R/C Compensator, Bridi Super Kaos, OS .61 RF with pump, Cox/Sanwa 6-channel transmitter (from the late 70's) and NIB YS short stroke .60 side exhaust. I usually make a decision in seconds, offer premium $$ for premium quality and pay immediately.

A vieo of my Blue Angel

I was flying hte Blue Angel yesterday evening and on of the club members was nice enough to capture most of the flight on video.

Please note that I was trying to fly low and close, was not very precise and basically missed almost every point of every point roll executed!!!!

Rusty, thank you for the 6 1/2 minutes of pure enjoyment. I grinned the entire video. What a beautiful plane.

Very inspirational and a great job building this classic pattern airplane. Now I'm motivated to get my original BA back in the air...
