Jon, I will check thru my stuff this week end, if I have one, you can PM me your address..
Mad, the drag boat was made about 2 yrs ago, not in stock, dunno if it will be again, they are in the middle of a bankrupcy filing now, graupner germany, and are going thru the reorganization now.. G, most kmb jets work well with a combustion engine, glow or gas..so do the bigger graupners, or, mhz.. WP, in my lookin around, the gopro is said to do a bit better on vid, but the slight difference might not be worth the weight and mounting options, plus the added size on the waterproof case the gopro needs..the contour is small, 1 button record-on-off. |

Geo, would be very easy to wreck that small shaft, a one cyl.,2 stroke engine is the most violent power delivery there is..cant balance em, smallest number of cylinders that balance are 3, and with a solid motor to jet coupling is sure death, plus its a solid shaft. flex shaft would help tremendously, as the flex/spring shaft acts as a cushion for the BANG of the engine..electrics are completely smooth, thats why they work good for our kind of application..
This is the first electric stuff I have ever done, never wanted to be tied to batteries, I like gas..as long as you have gas in your can, you keep running.. But, electric works best for some applications. |

Geo - I agree with everything Chi said about this. You might do better if you change to Steve's aftermarket flex-shaft conversion to cushion the power strokes but it's still only a 2.3mm shaft and even a .12 nitro motor would probably overload it in short order. But don't let anyone put you off trying.
![]() Chi - didn't know that about Graupner. How the mighty have fallen. If a top-drawer old established company like that with a loyal customer-base in their home country can fail, then what chance for anyone (who's not Chinese) to make it in today's modelling world.

Mad, they are MUCH better off now..they will stay in business...same old story, kids inherited the company, dont work, spend money..lol they will be fine, just gotta do the reorg.
T, I was initially gonna do the gopro, but, the size and weight put me off on it..I aint done anything yet, I have a tiny one I used to put on my planes I use, but, the vid is ..

I'm completely new to RC. I'm getitng A blackjack and I just got my NQD. It's fun but this nicad battery annoys me. I'm trying to do a build and I been reading this.
Let me know what your thoughts are on these (follow another forum build) motor http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...00kv_300w.html esc http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...hless_Boat_ESC battery: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...~50C_Lipo_Pack I'm looking for a receiver also. Can you guys make some good recommendation. Want to keep this build around 100s. As far as the servo. Should I replace it? I'm still confuse on how to put the new motor in with the original coupler? Trying to sorted through the pages. Also currently. when i turn Right, after let go it return back to center but it stay slightly offset to right which mean after a right turn boat tend to continue doing right turn slightly until I go left and let go. I try unscrewing that bottom screw where the wire pull on the jet but apparently that isn't the screw to change the tension of the cable... any ideas? Thank you. |

As for the tx/rx, I would go with this: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...und_Radio.html I have the screenless version of this one, which works really well, but of course right after I bought it they came out with the screen one I linked to that has model memory and everything for $10 more. ![]() For the coupler you could try this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/DR-3mm-x-3mm...item1c2819b3f0 or this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/BF-3mm-x-3mm...item19d239a7a6 and get a piece of 1/8in OD brass tubing which conveniently has an ID that is the same as the impeller shaft for the NQD. Drill a hole in it for the set screw, stuff in your coupler, and you're good to go! |

mad iknow the nqd version is a much cheaper unit , i had one in my first dory project with a stock brushed 400 motor , but without reverse the model has its limitations , i bought the graupner minijet because of the reverse capability , and made a bigger dory to put the unit into , my main interest is in sailing , the intention is to use the jet drive to rescue yachts if the keels get caught amongst the sea weed !
