Looking at the pictures and the videos of it the battery is not hardwired to the board, but I do believe it houses the voltage cut off. Atleast it does for the high cut off while charging. I am not sure about the low cut off.

I also remember reading that somewhere. I would be very tempted if it wasn't for that. You're basically limited to flying it for the duration of the built-in battery, and then leave the field and go home to charge it Even if you bring another source to charge it from you still have to wait for it to charge before you can fly again. If this is true than it's a big mistake on the part of Syma and it would be a deal-breaker for me, and many others I would think.

I also remember reading somewhere that the Syma X1 was 9x compatible.
Is there any more news about this? Anyone?

Dedicated battery or not, I think this will only discourage the non-solder customers. Not sure why anyone who owns something electronic doesn't own one...but hey, it's their crutch. This day in age with Google to help, it's as essential as a screwdriver.

Another discouraging aspect of the Syma X1 may be its relatively short range, which is only 40 meters as opposed to the V929's 100 to 150 meter range.

Now that could be a problem...
My udi u816 is UP TO 30m.....I can intermittently get 40ft. If the x1 can really get 120ft....I'm good with that. That's pretty far and high in my book.

However, Banggood.com claims that the control distance is about 80 meters (probably a marketing gimmick as Syma itself states that the controlling distance is ABOUT 30 meters.) I think there may some issues with the Syma X1's range because the TX looks like a TX without a module (the range booster on higher end TXs.)

If you don't own a soldering iron, you can't call yourself an RC hobbyist.

Well, according to this unboxing of the syma x1.....the battery is not built in. In fact, looks like the v929 battery except the jst plug is attached to the battery head cover so when the battery is slid into the housing, it is connected simultaneously.

I think i need a Syma X1 to my micro quad fleet if it behaves well.

If I recall, some pre-production photos showed a hardwired battery, but it looks like they wised up and changed that. Still, you're probably going to have to wire a connector to use other batteries.

LOL. I've been soldering since before many on this forum were born, so that's not an issue. I just hate it when they force you to do that right out of the box.

While I agree, these also aren't aimed at rc hobbyists, even with their amazing abilities they are still toys
However my 3 year old s107 still flies just fine on its stock battery
