However, Banggood.com claims that the control distance is about 80 meters (probably a marketing gimmick as Syma itself states that the controlling distance is ABOUT 30 meters.) I think there may some issues with the Syma X1's range because the TX looks like a TX without a module (the range booster on higher end TXs.)

Well, according to this unboxing of the syma x1.....the battery is not built in. In fact, looks like the v929 battery except the jst plug is attached to the battery head cover so when the battery is slid into the housing, it is connected simultaneously.

If I recall, some pre-production photos showed a hardwired battery, but it looks like they wised up and changed that. Still, you're probably going to have to wire a connector to use other batteries.
LOL. I've been soldering since before many on this forum were born, so that's not an issue. I just hate it when they force you to do that right out of the box. |
