LOL! Just pointing out that my idea of flying up-on-the-wing is not the same as yours.

WRING IT OUT DALE!!! (at least it's a new video... )
Yeah, I said that. I prefer to fly big-air, IMAC-style aerobatics. And I can fly big-air style with the Beast in a much smaller space than I can with the Sbach. Different tools in the toolbox....

REINFORCE THE NOSE!! After I did a fuselage+tail swap with mine, I was going to add CF nose strengtheners, but shrugged it off. During the re-maiden, I tried to hover too low, and-guess what? I hit a board fence and snapped the nose. A brand new fuse!!!!

This is one way to do it:

I absolutely second reinforcing the nose. It's a known weak point.

Here's how I did mine:

I also recommend protecting the aileron servos. Here's how I did mine:

And lastly, this little purchase (about 12 bucks) will save you a lot of prop adaptors (the stock ones break very easily):

Maiden report!

Ups man came right before the sun went down and then i woke up to absolute howling winds this morning

about a half hour ago the wind laid down and i went for it.
Tamed her way down with low rates of 60% and high of 80% as its been a while since i've flown anything this capable (41"buckhuck being the last).

Hands shaking from nerves and from the cold but everything went well!
3 separate flights all with pretty good landings on the road in front of our yard (i had considered hand launching and plopping it onto our tall field grass but..)
First landing was probably my best and even that had one of the wheel pants tear in half, lol. Yanked the other one off and flew a couple more times....what a great plane! I kept the idea of slight down pressure to get it to land properly and it worked well, although it was sort of freaky to do that

Thanks to all here on the forums, so much great info!

Good stuff Rick! A successful maiden is always good to hear! Yeah, the wheel pants are rubbish! I threw mine away immediately.

thanks Skytek!
remaidened (nervous enough so it still felt maideny) it for another battery and its still great! The spinner popped off on what i thought was an okay landing though mustve been a little to harsh i guess.

Still trying to work out the trimming, wants to climb a bit and i dont want to mess up the as3x with too many transmitter clicks. We'll see if i get more breaks in the weather to keep flying today.

Looking forward for your batts to arrive, RC
