Honestly, I like the random selection because nobody has to "dance" for their freebie (essays, sob stores, etc.) and everyone has an equal chance, whether they come early or late. It's just more respectful to everyone's time.

Hand-picking the most "worthy" recipient feels more like a competition (and doesn't guarantee anything since their story could be false). This is supposed to be fun, not competitive.

Yeah that's pretty sad. I'd agree that it would be a good idea to PM the winners themselves instead, so that way you're sure it's legit.

Thanks for doing what you do - the FPV equipment is great that you gave me and now I know what I'll be upgrading too later on, knowing the equipment and frequencies that I tested.

No, the DX7i had a legitimate winner who is receiving the radio. It's just that someone else tried scam it from the winner (and failed).
