The problem too is that the motors we're thinking of are for FP and CP heli's and may not have shafts long enough or the right diameter to put our gears on. Here we are trying to re-engineer a heli that Eflite could care less about.

EDIT: Oops again. I did ask on their website, 3 weeks and 3 days ago, but there's still no answer at HH. Click on the outer main shaft and click on the questions link. Maybe if you ask to be notified by email too, it'll make it seem more important to answer.
OK erdknuckle, unless Fuzzyguy drilled out the LYNX INNOVATIONS CNC swash, I think it's finally confirmed that the CX4 swash and main shaft are 6mm in diameter. I know you are following it on the V913 thread but I thought I'd let the CX4 crowd know what size main shaft they have. Check out post 1185 here. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...791676&page=79

for single post you click the number of the post on the right - it will open a new window and you just copy and paste the URL of this window into the post you are just writing ...
PS: I already commented on that post btw

Super Cub

A good friend of ours from some other threads also has a Super Cub plane. In reading about it, it runs on a 3 cell battery and uses a 480 motor. I wonder how a pair of those would work on this heli.

If you had read this thread first, I don't think you would have bought one AT ALL, let alone one at a cheaper price!!

Anyone still using this heli?
trying to fix one for a friend and have a problem.
have taken canopy off front and rear.
blades are ok.
when spinning up all is fine until the Rx and 3in1 unit area starts to vibrate violently.
I think it all of a sudden hits a resonate frequency and goes nuts.
Why?
is there a Fix?
3in1 unit mounted too tight, too loose?

Thanks

The 3-in-1 and receiver need to be secured as tight as possible so the gyro doesn't go nuts! What's going on with the blades? They need to be loose so they can find themselves and not have too much weight on one side, so to speak. Got pics? The tail on a rear canopy bird or the boom if a boom is used need to be there to help stabilize the heli.

3in1/Rx tie wrapped tight to frame. if I hold it , it does not vibrate violently.
Blades are loose and do not appear to vibrate.
I turned gain down to low and it still does it but tail canopy is off.
Also the top blade motor thermal resistor gets real hot and motor slows down after 30 seconds of full power..
The bottom motor is cool.

thanks

If I remember right, the motors were a problem with these helicopters. The thermal resistor would get hot and shutoff the motor resulting in the copter falling from the sky. As far as vibration, check blade balance, blade tracking, bent shaft, or even a bad bearing.

yes I saw that also but the thermal resistor maybe getting hot because motor is drawing too much current. I think the thermal resistor is to protect the 3in1 from burning out. Motor is cheaper to replace that 3in1 unit.
I see some have bypassed the thermal resistor but maybe at expensive of 3in1.

You have to understand that the thermal protection is working, but the problem is they chose motors that do not have enough power to handle the larger heli. Yes, bypassing the thermal protectors can result in the 3-in-1 getting fried, and nothing you do can correct a lousy design. Your friend probably got the heli for a song because most returned them for a refund as soon as they got them.
