Top Flite Sea Fury build with brushless power

Hello all!!!! I'm back again and posting pics of my latest project. Last time I was posting my Top Flite Corsair build and conversion and noted that a few other project will be on my bench. This Sea Fury is one of them along will my still to be converted P82 twin mustang and a Top Flite Elder 40 kit to be built. Links to the other builds are below.

and

I had a bit of a run in with the corsair last year with it being under powered so for this Sea Fury build I'm crossing my fingers all goes well.

Power for this bird will be two 4 cell lipo bats (mah to still be determined) in series with a power 110 from Eflite and a CC Ice HV85 ESC. Servos to be Hitec all around using both metal and karbonite.

Decided to go with Eflite retracts this time around due to the cost difference compared to the lado ones I got for my corsair.

Read lots about this bird being tail heavy but I still never took any measures to lighten the components. Crossing my fingers the batts and motor placement will balance it out. Might even try to relocate the rudder and elev servo on the fuse to be forward of the COG to help out a bit.

Lets get to posting pics!

You can always get a bigger motor to make up the weight needed in front. I have done this on a few occasions. Maybe you don't need a Power 160 to fly but need the weight. One of those 5 blade varioprops and a nice big spinner will help too . Looking forward to the rest of the build.

No 5 prop for me. Just going to stick with a 2 or 3 blade. I read the power 110 is overkill already in the power aspect. Hope the weight of it helps. Thinking 5000mah batts will also help the nose weight .

A rare shot of the walking Ribosaurus rexes on my bench.

Does not trust daddy's work so she is checking to see if they are square.

This bird is so easy to build next to the corsair,

First time doing glass work. Not sure why I was always so scared to try it......

Took a break from the wing and started the fuse.

Back to the wing!!

Left retract full fit-up.

Both sides perfectly mirrored and ready to epoxy.

Mount installation complete and skin installed. Now time for the cutouts.

The nice thing about the fury is that cavernous cowl that will swallow any lipos you need to place ahead of the firewall to make CG. Just be sure you build that motor box big enough. Power 110 is OK. Not so sure about that Castle ESC. I've heard of a number of failures with this controller recently.

The failures I have read about recently are with the higher amp ones supposedly. Any ESC can go. Just have to hope this V2 one they put out has no issues.

Your build looks great

Some more info on electrified TF Sea Furys can be found here :

I found mine needed lots of nose weight. I used a mount with long offsets for the motor, you may want to consider building a motor box in front of the cowl to allow the batteries to slide in through the firewall right up against the motor.

Power 110 is more than enough power on 9S, should be fine on 8S.
