I just received this new CMP / CMpro T-45 arf, I have the CMP Spitfire and I like it ...

It is almost identical to the Hobbyking Hawk (also made by CMP or China Model Products : http://www.cmpairplane.com/ ) up to the paint

The Spit is a bit on the heavy side , but it seems now this Hawk is made relatively light(er) ...

The wing area on the T-45 is 24dm^2, so that makes the wing +33% larger in surface than the Sapac T-45.

Wingspan = 114 cm = 46 ''

Length = 122 cm = 49 ''

Wing area = 24 dm^2 = 372 sq in

Approximate scale 1:9

Est. weight rtf 7.2 - 8.0 lbs


CORRECT CG AFTER ONE YEAR OF FLYING:
ca. 110-115 mm from wing leading edge at root (see picture below)

Steph, you will like it ... Big fuse with a small wing though

The upside is that there's no painting to do ...

I did weigh all the components, the FG fuse is by far the heaviest part.

The wing & tail surfaces are very light

wing : 10.4 oz

fuse 32.8 oz

canopy 2.8 oz

fairing 1.0 oz

ducts 7.0 oz

droptank 2.3 oz

tail surfaces 1.4 oz

ventral fin 1.2 oz

misc. parts 7.0 oz (incl. fixed l.g. / wheels!)

Empty bare frame w/o gear & electronics = 58 oz = 3.65 lbs = 1.63 kg

I think I will save some weight by omitting droptanks, ventral fin & fairing

The intake area is around 63.2 sq cm, so that's 124% of a DS-51 fan fsa.

For a 90mm fan they could have made the intakes a bit smaller

The WeMotec Midifan fits perfectly, I wish a Neu 1515 (edf, open case) would fit in it, I might have to go the HY shroud route again to get the Neu to fit.

The inside is well done, plenty of ply reinforcements to keep the fuse rigid.

The reinforcements are - as usual in these kind of kits - glued in with some sort of hotglue.

There is a ton of space for batteries, but ultimately the battery size is of course determined by what kind of weight that small wing can carry

The wing is well made and very light (10oz) ... There's servo hatches for both ailerons & flaps.

Add a lot of un-needed weight to this plane & the retracts will come out the other side of the wing on a hard landing ...

Size comparison with the Sapac Hawk / T-45 , a bit bigger but not by a whole lot ...

One of the strong points of this kit is - besides the price - the nice finish on the fuse & wings - not much painting to do, unless you want a Bae Red Arrows Hawk instead

Herb since your not going to use the drop tank ventral fin and hook and hatch would you be interested in selling those items to me for another project.

Tam Jets has a shroud that fits the midi rotor and the 1515 motor ...kinda pricey but it has a built in heat sink to protec your motor investment ...he also has one to fit the 1415 motor....which now come standard with cooling holes

Rodger, yes the ducst have seams.

They are surprisingly well made, comparable to some of the best I have seen.

As I said, the only possible issue is perhaps that they are very light and there could be inevitably someone - perhaps without a whatmeter - that will eventually manage to implode them with a loud bang
