Westland Whirlwind Fighter

Hey there....who would love to see one of these built. These things were one of the fastest planes in the early stages of ww2. Too bad they were about the size of a hurricane and couldnt use merlins...just too big a motor.
So....let's get one made and see what happens...guarantee a sellout immediately. Use the traditional RAF camo ....sky band...could be made as a mk 1 or 2...bombs or no bombs.
So....parkzone, roc hobby, durafly...here's your chance.

Last time I sent a request out they made the spit 24...with the color scheme I recommended....one more time boys...let's make a million so noone ever forgets this magnificent little fighter!

These are pretty cool planes. One of the smaller twins to come out of WWII; 45 foot span I believe. Not too many made as they weren't really too good as a fighter but they were used as attack aircraft if I remember right. The rudder being split as it is and the high elevator make it a little more challenging to model, but like I said, it is a pretty cool aircraft.

I have been thinking on this as well. Debating on scratching one.
They were fast down low but poor at alt, needed better engines. Also, had a high landing speed so needed long runways and there were not many around at the time. (According to a book I read).
I would get one.

Yes it had its faults..pereigrines and whatnot...I feel that paddle blades and a more refined engine would have slowed her down quite a bit....
But a foamy electric bird would be light enough and powerful enough to enjoy. Bypass the bad tendencies the full scale one had! Come on manufacturers!!!
This would be a great way to start the new year as they were last flown in 1943-44 on missions...would be a great homage....70 year anniversary gift!

kit bash

Ok guys, first don't jump on me but I looked into kit bashing this plane
from a Dynam me 262 and then from a wowplanes b-26.
It would take some love and sand paper.
It would be a cool project

I can buy the nacelles from say,FMS mossy.
Crop the nose.
Add foam and round out the tail.

Oh boy,wait,wait.....forget it.
A mosquito would be easier but I can't bring myself to do it.
Besides, Its hard to do and keep the price down.
Oh well.

Ok...dogfly...hope your paying attention here...this is right up our alley.
So...use a pz mossie wing complete with nacelles....cut the out board wing from leading edge to the spar and then to the tip...remove a triangular slice of foam to give the outboard wing section sweep back...theres your wing...as for the fuse...let's see...pz messerscmitt fuse rear of the canopy and shape ...habu fuse canopy forward and shape...
109 fuse cut behind canopy and remove that...slice tail and add 2 inches of foam to the vertical stab...
Habu...cut behind canopy...cut off intakes...shorten the nose by an inch...cut down canopy by 2 inches...fill in empty spaces with foam left over and then sand/ spackle...should be easy....compared to my seafury bash from a pz corsair, trojan and mustang! Lmao!!

I think itll be easier to go to a low wing froma shoulder style with the mossie wing...and it has the slimmer nacelles as well...I did forget to mention...the fuse would have to be put on top of the mossie wing...so the bottom would have to be streamlined and filled in...but thats no biggie....getting the battery to the very front would be key...also cutting back the nacelles
to make them a little stubbier...and streamlining them of the carb intakes too

I'm gunna work up a pic for ya....
