gearbox removal

How do I remove the gearbox from a Hacker B 50. Mine sounds as though it has dried up and needs a little grease. I have tried to loosen it but despite gripper gloves etc I can't move it. I have been very reluctant to grip it in a vice. Any ideas ?

On B50 Gearboxes there may be a 1.5mm set screww down inside one of the mounting holes in the gearbox. This is usually marked with a small scratch on one of the holes. You would need to loosn this before trying to unscrew the gearbox form the motor.

Gripper gloves probably aren't going to do it. After removing the set screw (just put a 1.5mm wrench down each hole and you'll find the one with the set screw in it), then use a pair of strap wrenches like the ones in this link. It takes quite a lot of force. Then make sure you locktite when re-installing http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1...3&blockType=G3
