Looking for a small, quiet edf

Hey all, I'm new to the edf stuff.

My next project I want to do a small edf jet with a wingspan not greater than around 24 inches. I made a scratch-built pusher prop cutlass and was really impressed with the way this airframe tracked, like it's on rails, until I had a Rx glitch on my FM system and an evil tree ate it with a happy woomp sound. I want to make the next one edf.

I am assuming I would want an edf around 50mm for a lightweight plane this size?

Problem is my field is "noise sensitive". I heard the Change sun fans are real quiet but I can't find any smaller ones.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Grab a 50mm T45 kit (Jpower or Skyangels) and put the new Lander 10-blade 50mm unit in. Quit a bit quieter than stock.....sounds sweet though. Plus the T45 is just a great airframe. Just my .02.

Thanks for the suggestion, I do like the looks of those jpower airframes.

Found a vid with the Lander and it does indeed sound reasonably quiet, problem is even after translating he doesn't seem to mention the motor he used. I'm thinking the motor contributes to the noise of course.

the fan blades (and if they are properly balanced) contributes much much more to the noise than the actual motor ever will.

Yeah I have heard that about the balancing.

Well about a year ago I almost bought the Change Sun 10-blade 70mm unit after seeing some youtube vids and being impressed with the quiet natural sound, shoulda woulda coulda.

Now I am bummed because apparently it is no longer produced and their 12-blade sounds louder to my ears, can anyone confirm this?

Call me weird, but the high-pitched squeal of most edfs is really annoying to my ear. Thanks for any ideas. Hmm, I was hoping to try out an edf system but I may just make another pusher.

You can still get the CS 70mm 10 blades here for $15 +$5

Stick that one in a lander F9F Panther and you'll get a very quiet EDF.

Mine is set up with CS10 and Turnigy L2855 2300kv on 5S and is the quietest of all my EDFs

7blade 50mm EDF sounds just about as little as you ever will get one to sound.

Henke's 50mm 7blade T-33 (3 min 21 sec)

the 12 CS fan will be just as quiet as the 10 blade if balanced properly. It just draws a little more current (about 7%w with the same motor).
Cheers

Wow great responses. Thanks for your help all, that was a nice sounding edf henke, but I am feeling cheap so I went with the RC castle combo. Thanks also for the heads-up Manu, picked up a couple CS 10-blades.

Multiblade well balanced seem to be the way to go :-) I choose the Hacker as I got it laying around from a Hornet 2 Helicopter. I bet there are cheaper alternatives now days.
