How to transfer lines on plans to Balsa for cutting?

STARTING TO SCRATCH BUILD!! How do you guys transfer the shapes and lines on the plans to the wood for sawing and shaping?

Also, can someone recommend an excellent band saw for RC airplane building?

Sometimes plans come with a template sheet that you can cut out and a mist of contact cement on the wood and paste the template down and cut away. No templates, go to copy store and make a copy of the plans to cut up. You can trace the parts on tracing paper and use carbon paper. You can also carefully use carbon paper and trace the part onto the wood. Several ways to do it. I even used a dress pattern wheel, and traced the parts on to the wood. With this method you get a series of pin holes in the wood that you can connect with a soft pencil.

Another method is to make a laser copier copy of the parts you need. Then take them face down on the balsa and use an iron on its highest heat to transfer it. Laser ink is basically carbon with a heat activated binder.

Two words SEE TEMP Its a think platic film you lay over your plans, trace on to the see temp and then cut out your pattern. Scratchs builders have been using it for years!!!
