E-Flite DR 1 slow flier

I wish Horizon Hobby would come out with a Fokker DR 1 Slow flier to complement the Fokker DVII, Jenny, Nieuport 17 & S.E. 5a. But I know that will not happen!

These little slow fliers are great!

We also would really like a Spad also please , Its such a loss that they stopped the 250 size slow flyer WW1 biplanes

I searched for the SE5A and Jenny and both appear to be discontinued.

Really, almost nobody cares for biplanes these days....

Unfortunately, all four in that series have been discontinued.

I was lucky enough to find one of each. The Jenny and Fokker D.VII came from a local hobby shop! I found the Nieuport at an online hobby shop. But I absolutely could not find the last plane - the S.E. 5a - until a fellow R.C. Groups member offered his.

The Jenny, Fokker, and Nieuport are excellent, relaxing indoor flyers (I haven't flown the S.E. 5a yet) and get a lot of positive comments so I'm not sure I'd agree that no one cares for biplanes.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like we'll see anything similar in the near future.

I think I may have gotten the last S.E. 5a on the planet. I was not perfect but it was in the original box with sealed plastic packages containing all the build stuff. Some stuff was missing like the quick links. Pages from the manual & the fuselage had several cracks & separations in it. It was repairable. However when I got it I thought I had been screwed when you conceder I paid full price!

Care to back up this opinion with some solid research? Unless you can point me to some legitimate statistics I'm gonna say it's flat out not true. Pure conjecture.

I never had an E-flite WWI bipe, but I have the Great Planes Sopwith Camel and I had the DR1. I really love this series. They got a bad rap because people think they assemble and fly like foam bouncers. (NOT!!) They also had a SPAD, Neiuport, and D VII (if memory recalls) All 4 ch 400 size slow fliers. Since they aren't available anymore, I rarely fly my Camel anymore...once or twice a year. I wasted the DRI on it's maiden...and wished I replaced it.

I saw a 45.7 inch DR 1 on hobby king last night. It was hard not to buy it. They also have a 9cc Gasoline motor for $99.99. I've always wanted a gas model motor. It would be a perfect fit in the DR1.

OOps! It's a D VII: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...00mm_ARF_.html
