hkpilot micro apm 2.7 and ppm

Hello

I hope this isnt a stupid question. I tried to search and I was unable to find clear instructions on how to connect a ppm receiver like the frsky d4r-ii. This is all i could find....

http://diydrones.com/m/blogpost?id=7...Post%3A1882504

at the bottom it says to jumper a resistor to ground and then jumper to enter dfu mode. Can someone explain this process to me? HK doesnt have any good documentation as usual.

Thanks
A-

For a standard ppm connection you should just have to jumper inputs 2 and 3 together and connect the ppm to channel 1. If it is an s bus output then u have to replace some firmware.

So just cut the leads of 2 & 3 and splice them together? And connect receiver to ch 1?

Great. Your welcome. So do I need to put a dab of solder on the contact the first arrow is pointing to? I wouldn't need to put this in dfu mode right? Sorry I am very new to apm.

No u should just have to momentarily short them to enter dfu mode.

So I don't have the HK version but mine came with a standard ppm encoder already loaded on it. For the standard ppm encoder to work you just have to shor channels 2 and 3 together and use channel 1 as the ppm input. If u want to use s bus then u will have to replace the firmware on the 32u2 chip which requires entering dfu mode. The first link below shows how to use a standard ppm reciever the second shows how to use sbus. Note in the second that it says to solder at one point. That entry is incorrect u just need to shot those 2 points. You will see in the device manager on your computer once the board enters dfu mode it will load as mega 2650 do instead of just a mega 2650.

I keep finding this thread when looking for APM/HKPilot SBUS info, and just want to clarify since it's kind of confusing:

Q: For the original question: How do you use PPM with HKPilot/APM?
A: Simply short inputs #2 and #3, and connect input #1 to the PPM out on your RX. That's it, it should work.

Q: How do you use an SBUS RX with APM/HKPilot?
A: Two options:
1) Buy a PPM to SBUS adapter, like this one: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...85&aff=1107187
Then connect the output of the adapter the same way you do a PPM RX (as described above)
2) OR, you can try to upgrade the PPM decoder on the APM/HKPilot board. There's a hex file floating around from somewhere (I haven't seen the code, and I'd like to see it if anyone has a link!) you can use to upgrade the APM/HKPilot board to directly support SBUS so you don't need the PPM/SBUS decoder.

To update the PPM decoder, you have to enter "DFU mode" on the APM/HKPilot board, there are instructions in the links above, along with a video showing how to update the board on a windows machine.

That should be it!

If anyone has instructions for entering DFU and upgrading the PPM encoder/decoder via a Mac, that would be awesome

Here is the Hex, its hosted on Peter Kings google docs page

If we can learn how to get into DFU mode that would be awesome as I cant find anything for this board :-/

I have watched all the videos for the full size APM but the MK Micro doesn't seem to have a jumper 2 location or at least its not written on the board anywhere or in the documentation. Has anyone found a pin out diagram?
