Perhaps there's some reason for this, some benefit to 3D?
No, zero positives to bad CG. It makes anything while pirouetting real tough compared to a heli with spot on CG. Piro comp takes over if level but piro loops and piro funnels are way tougher. I was having a hard time doing piro funnels on my 450 last year and then got to try a friends x3 with perfect CG and it turned out they were predictable.

I got both 150's bound to main TXand pitch setup perfect now, just need a gap in the weather to try them.

Hey, guys. So, I just bought a used one at a swap meet (yes, I understand the risks), and I'm finding that the tail-motor does not spin up with the main motor. I swapped the motor plug to the main motor port and confirmed that the tail-motor spins, so I know it is not the motor or wiring.

Has anyone experienced such a thing where this would be a programming issue on the board, or did I sadly purchase a board with a blown tail ESC in it? Is it possible to just get the ESC board?

I had that happen to my new one after a crash and if I wiggled the board I could get it to work until I let go. Bad connection somewhere, but couldn't chase it down so I bought a new board. That sucked because I bought my 1st one used and the main motor wouldn't spool up. New board there also. It's a wonderful bird, but a week board.

I found someone kind enough to sell me a working board. In the meantime, I'll see if I can touch-up the posts and FETs and restore this one to life.

It appears the top board is the RX portion. I wonder what the pinout is to the flight unit? S-Bus or individual servo channels? I was afraid to try until now, but with my Orange R100 attached, I wonder if I can remove that top board and antenna in order to save a touch of weight?

yeah you could and it has been done...if memory serves the weight of the top board is around 0.2 gram so its negligible, at any rate these birds benefit from a bit of extra weight up front IMO due to the really bad CG...and some better protection for the really weak boards as the stock canopy offers very little

Finally I got to fly the 150 running blhel. Miracles do happen!
Easily the most stressful bird I have had in my fleet but looks like those days might be over. Didn't get chance to really push the tail to test it as it was really gusty and tried to find the most sheltered place to fly.

I had a bit of wag in the wind but the tail did hold and was predictable in mild 3D, something I thought was never going to happen after a year of messing and failing. Miracles do happen.
Huge Thanks to Juma who helped me out, heli would be sold or crushed to death without you.
Trex 150 Blheli V14 - First Flight - miracles do happen (3 min 21 sec)

Looking forward to letting rip in a wide open space plus I still have a 12 magnet bell and some RRC 65mm props to fit.

Hi,

I would like to buy a micro heli and use my own transmitter, but I'm not sure if Nine Eagles General Link Module S-FHSS is compatible with my Graupner mz-24 (this transmitter works with FHSS) to bind the T-Rex 150.

Is there some way to bind the T-rex 150 to my Graupner?

Trex 150 is S-FHSS compatible so if you support that, you are good to go according to the manual. From what I understand you cannot use FHSS to bind with the 150. If you can use a dsm2/x module or similar in your Graupner then using a dsm2/x sat will work but no clue on the specifics of your TX.

The K120 supports S-FHSS also, is much cheaper and in my opinion the stock performance blows the 150 away. Far superior tail performance (coreless) and I think it has more grunt too. Same batteries and flight envelope, piro comp etc. The feathering shaft bends easy but quick to swap and the stock servos are fond of melting cases if you thrash it. I just fitted Emax ES9251 servos all round and the first flight today was solid.

Whether is still leaves a blheli 150 in the dust is another matter and one I plan to test soon. I'll upload today's flight soon but you can see plenty videos here and the main thread if interested.

Thanks for your reaply!

I have a Devo 7e too with Deviation so with a satellite I can fly the T-Rex 150. The Super Combo looks very good, but maybe a little expensive for a micro heli and some people aren't happy with it because of tail wag (with BlHeli can be solved and (I'm not sure of this) the Super Combo has the MSR upgraded for better tail lock) and poor plastics, and needs work to fly good. But the electronic looks cool.

The XK K120 has very good reviews (cheap, very durable, stable, pirocomp, powerfull...), but I wouldn't like to have another transmitter.

I though that the T-Rex 150 was better performance than the XK K120

If XK keep bringing out popular models I would expect their protocols to eventually be supported by deviation, that doesn't help us now though.

If the T150 has any advantages at all over the K120 it's that the newest version of K120 cannot change flight modes in flight, you must land first. I have no idea why they implemented this after the first version I have that has no restrictions. I remember the 150 cyclic feeling like it possibly had more resolution or fluidity to it but not to the point the K120 is bad or prevents anything plus I have only that one flight above for the last year so plan to fly them back to back along with a hcp100s and see how they all feel.

Both have a similar flight window but K120 is leagues ahead with tail precision. Another TX is annoying and it needs 6 x AA which bugs me over a 4 X AA or lipo setup but even with that included and a 2nd BNF K120, it comes out about the same money as a T150 deal. That's some pretty good bang for buck.

I'm having no end of trouble getting my 150 to fly. I've come to the conclusion that the MRS 3 in 1 unit is somehow faulty and would like to get a replacement unit. However, everywhere I look, they are out of stock. Does anyone know if this part has been discontinued, or even where I could find one in stock? Thanks for any help.

Helipal seem to have some in stock at $105.99, haven't found a UK seller though.

I have a spare I would consider selling if you needed one fast but it's used to check things on the bench when I was having blheli issues with my pair but it has never been flown so would want close to new price.

Thanks for the link - I'll email them to ensure they do have stock. That comes to 78 (approx) with postage - how much would you want for yours? PM me if you'd rather.
