Parkzone super decathlon

Visiting family and there's a pz super decathlon pnp for $90 nib. I found it's discontinued now couldn't tell if there's still parts for it. Would it be a bad idea to buy the plane?

In my opinion, that price is a little high even for NIB. If it includes the 3-channel transmitter and charger you'll be able to fly right away, but with the 27 mHz transmitter it's a bit risky and you'd be safer to convert it to 2.4 gHz. I'd offer less.

I got one used in a trade and it's a sweet flying little plane for 3 channels. I added a steerable tailwheel, kept it for 9 months until selling it to raise funds for another project. I did nearly get "shot down" once due to the 27 mHz frequency so switched to 2.4 gig and never had a problem after that.

Don't try to add ailerons if you do get it though. Been there, done that. The highly undercambered airfoil and all that dihedral work against them. It becomes an adverse-yaw plane killing machine and takes all the fun out of what should be a nice flyer.

Yeah I have a dx7s and a dx6i for back up so I wouldnt need the tx anyway. Since it's plug n play I would just put a spektrum or orange rx in there anyway. I have heard they fly pretty nicely. Maybe I'll try to talk him down to $60. Though I have so many planes not sure if I really need another.
