I'd like to present a new version of my hexacopter frame.
I've been using prototype version for few months and I'm very satisfied with it.
Since first version some changes and improvements were introduced, that made whole construction more stable and durable.
I hope that you will like the construction.

Original frame was dedicated for Robbe Roxxy 2216/25 motors and GWS 5x3x3 props.
One can use any other motors with sufficiently high kv ofcourse.
Frame motor plates support both 12 and 16 mm spacing between mounting holes in motor.

Here is slight view on frame dimensions and design:




Construction consists of:
- centerplates + arms + motor mount plates.
- battery shelf
- FC protection plate (included but not necessary to be mounted)

Kit looks as follows:
(there are no screws and spacers on the photo - they are included ofcourse)

Fully assembled frame weight: 118g


I'd like to draw your attention to arms composite construction.
Since carbon tube is quite fragile, composite with aluminium is made to strenghten whole arm without much gain on weight.



In front of the frame there are holes allowing to mount GoPro housing or FPV camera.
Both battery plate and FC protection shield have holes allowing installation of accessories/antennas etc as well.

In case of mounting GoPro (but not only then) it is more comfortable to use undercarriage.
Align Trex 450 fits there perfectly and makes landing safer.

Is it a press fit or did you use glue to keep it in place?

Since I don't plan to use roxxy motors (2216/25), I'm looking for an alternative; which kv would you recommend?
1800kv? 2000kv?

Frame has been shipped just 15 minutes ago

Robbe 2216/25 has also 1800kv, so from this point of view...your motors will be ok.
But.....
It is not only matter of kv. Efficiency is also very important.
If your motors (I have no experience with them ) have too small efficienty at higher rpm....you copter will be too weak to handle GoPro (or other load), and it is very probable that flight time will be heavily decreased).
That's why I do not like cheap motors. Manufacturer declared parameters are usually great, but it's just fiction.

I am new to quads, so forgive me for these questions, but what battery do you use, and how long can you fly with it? will a KK controller be able to fly this frame , as i am looking at FPV too, and currently my quad will only fly for 8 minutes on a 4S 2200ma, so the motor efficency is quite crucial i guess?

In short....
I use 3S 2200mAh battery which gives me 12-15 min FPV flight time and 8-9min with GoPro onboard.
Without GoPro and FPV it can achieve even 18min.
Ofcourse with well balanced motors (I strongly suggest robbe roxxy or something better/more expensive) and props.

Every FC which can manage 6 motors will do the job.

Still, I'm really amazed it could carry a gopro without problem!
I'm also considering trying your FC which seem well thought and well designed; maybe when I've tried the small hexa.

The frame kit looks nice and I like how light the frame is it opens up lots of possiblities for combinations of things. Reasonably priced too I might add.
Any chance on making a frame kit that can handle 10" to 11" props in the near future?

just scale it up by 20-30% and use the 10" with 10mm boom

Ok... I scaled it up.
For 10" props it will look like this....

Production will be easier than small haxa, so it could have similar price I think. (but I have to check it to be 100% sure).
Arms (boom) will be 10mm alu, not carbon.

Tomorrow I'll have the small hexa, it's waiting in the post office right now (yeah, my postman is a laaaazy guy who does not want to climb stairs )

Yep, and it would have been even faster if the postman was an athlet!

So, I had some time to build the frame up, and well it's really a cool one!
Really light but yet stiffer than I thought..
I didn't took long to build it, everything was neatly packed so you can't go wrong for the build. + 1
