Replacement for a brushed motor

Ok, I have no idea how to compare motor sizes. Way too many different "discriptions". So, I have a 540 brushed motor in a boat and I am looking to replace it with a brushless. What do I look for and what are the advantages of brushlees over brushed?

Thanks,

Try asking in the boat section. Some of us, me for sure, are clueless about boats.

You can get a 36mm inrunner motor that's the same size as your current motor but will be much more efficient, allowing you to have the same performance and much more runtime, the same runtime and much more power/speed, or some combination.

What are you looking for in terms of performance and such? Also, what type and cell count is your battery (Ni-Cd, Ni-MH, LiPO)?

You'll also need a brushless ESC.
