Good i have the right one. Love the P38 and need a good building project. And as I read once it's complete its a great flier, especially for $117 shipped. Good deal? Yes/No. I normally fly edf so i am coming outta my conform zone. This thread is huge so this plane must have something good going on.

If you want a great P38 project here is a balsa kit for you. I have been eyeing it for a while.

depends on what motors and esc you use,, mine is stock and fly 3s 2200 -2600, the only thing i changed was put b25 props on and it made it a little faster,, the video was stock props on 3s

4S has been done before on stock electronics but you can't go long at higher throttle. Kevin Greene has stated that high throttle on the ground gets the motors pretty hot.

Is this the V2? Only a few left, wanna buy but i don't even see the forward fuse? Any help here please!!
That's a good price! I paid $90 for my "kit" (which included retracts and motors) from Banana about 2 years ago but that was a very short-time sale.
Tempted to get another kit just to have it around....
Would build the next one almost exactly like mine now with stronger retract and motor mounts, and no gear doors.

Until FMS or someone else comes out with a better kit with solid retracts, motor mounts and more accurate shape/details a ~$120 J-Power airframe is a solid start to a great Lightning IMO, if you've got the time to build it right.

I've been looking for another P-38 airframe ever since I crashed my last E-Flite version.

There are three airframes listed at AtomicRC.

They all look the same to me. What's different about the $69 version?

Seriously, unless you can't live without 3 bladed props just get 2-1/4" Great Planes spinners, ~800kV 4S motors, 10x10ish APC left/right props, some 1/8" plywood for the motor mounts, retracts from PW-RC and wheels, 50A ESCs, a bunch of HK metal gear servos and a variety of carbon fiber from rcfoam to stiffen up the wings, thin part of the fuses and horiz stab and you'll have a plane that will fly like a dream and last a long time. The stock stuff sucks.
And one solid color is just the motivation to paint it as you want and put on some Callie Graphics.

BTW - could you please post a link to the $120 airframe?
I don't see it but do see other kits and some parts (nice price on retracts lol)

This one is $150

It's smaller, maybe 1100mm wingspan instead of the J-Power's ~1450mm.
Fixed gear vs. retracts (that suck in stock form).
Has rockets vs. big drop tanks.
You can tell from the pics because the vertical stabs are molded into the entire engine booms instead of needing to be glued on. And also the "superchargers" appear to be also molded into the wing (which looks to be one piece, not 20 instead of being "hatches" held on with magnets.
From what I've read the smaller one is a pretty nice plane, wouldn't mind having one myself if I didn't already have a 1450.
