Tiny Paper plane fun

Hi,
I made this really tiny paper plane out of curiosity and it did fly

I folded a sheet of paper and cut the shape out, then folder the wings and stab and to add weight, I added a tiny bit of clay at the tip and a even tinier amount inside the tail. I also added a slight uplift to the stabs.

After a few adjustments, it actually flew. The video is not one of the best flights, but it surely shows it can stay in the air for a while

This was just a quick fun thing...

I have attached the images and the video is here:

I used to get my nephews to build and fly those when I was looking after them. They nearly wore out the back steps of the house running up and down as they launched a half-dozen of them off the back porch! They sure slept well after a session of flying...

A good friend of mine used to test various designs using paper and toothpicks; tells you a lot about the flight characteristics of certain configurations.

I never did the small paper gliders like yours. But if I had a nickel for each of the many 4 to 6 inch span balsa gliders of all manner of shapes and configurations I built and flew in my parent's back yard as an early teen I'd have been able to retire a couple of years earlier.

i have built a number of "match stick" gliders, if you shape the stick right you only need the match head for weight. some of them flew surprisingly well, all were match wood with balsa wings and tails.

Hi,
A modest test glide of the paper wing, shown at #8.
Unfortunately, the flights were somewhat limited by the rain forest....sorry....my back garden....
Here's a very short clip:

Paper Flying Wing (short) (0 min 12 sec)

Moving the CG slightly rearwards (by removing the ignition powder & rounding the tip of the match), enabled me to reduce the spoiler deflection a bit, thus enhancing wind penetration & making the wing less sensible to speed changes....this was an improvement....
