A few ESC Questions

1) Are the latest Turnigy Plush esc's definitely 400Hz refesh rate out of the box (without flashing.)

2) I just bought 6 of these 40A Maytech ESC's that are definitely 400Hz but the price was painful http://montorc.com/MT40A.aspx Does anyone know if these are equivalent to some other lessor-priced brand?

3) Has anyone used these 20 amp ultra pwm esc's with a Xaircraft FC1212-P flight controller? http://www.goodluckbuy.com/ultrapwm-...20a-500hz.html. Seems that Xaircraft used to have some 20 amp ESCs, but they aren't around anymore.

Thanks,

Russ

For $7.00 and a bit of effort you can buy F20A from Hobbyking and flash them with SimonK firmware and have an excellent high speed esc. I realize this does not answer your question directly, but it seems to be the best mix of price and performance.

or a F-40A for 40A

yes, i think the plush have a 400hz update.

the best performing ESC, i think, would be a F-series (F-20A, f-40A etc) with simonk firmware.

its not really that hard.
1. buy an avrisp from hk
2. make a jig out of a clothes pin and wire that squeezes onto the pads of the esc after you cutoff the heatshrink

3. connect it all
4. type a command at the command prompt.

1) 400Hz is a sticker, nothing more. same ol crap.
2) You just got shafted out of your hard-earned cash for an overpriced ESC with zero multirotor performance improvement. Hobbyking F40A is $14.95 and with simonk firmware outperforms 2x+ priced 'maytech'. holy crap I just clicked and they're $50 each. highway robbery. there should be a sticky warning people not to buy into that scam, oh wait, montorc is a site sponsor, good luck.

3) no idea.

you mean the Maytechs, or the flashed f-40's?

@ timecop - I was building a WKM hex and I thought one of my DJI 30 ESCs was bad, so I impulsively bought the first esc's that said they definitely work with WKM FC. Turned out that the DJI esc wasn't bad, just had a bad connector. So now I'm the proud owner of those $50 Maytechs. No one has told me yet if they are identical to something from hobbyking @ 1/3 the price.

I also have six $90 motors from Monto, which were 90/50 times more painful than the esc's.

Try this video for how to flash, it even shows the esc to purchase for easy flashing.

Flashing SimonK Firmware on a 20 amp HK esc (12 min 30 sec)

I've got some snake oil that's compatible with WKM.
Inquire within.

FYI, DJI esc is garbage, same (if not worse) class as maytech, also horribly overpriced and same crap firmware thats nowhere near designed for multirotors.

I just did, and not only identical to HK, but HK esc is actually much better performance with proper firmware. I think you can flash maytech too (since they're just OEM from ZTW in China), but lol @ spending $50 per esc just to reflash, you might as well just buy up castle creation ESC and use official multirotor firmware with them.
