I go to a cabenet shop my company uses for new cabenets ,they have scraps of birch and other plys that they would most times throw out or burn so i load up my van with brand new scraps, great for airplanes and they are FREE . I buy my balsa from national tho. I have had some say iam CHEAP! and iam. joe

National had the bettter reputation a few months ago. So unless someone posted otherwise my next order will go there. The quality for price equation seemed good.

Some of the others where shipping seriously questionable product at that time but may have cleaned up their act since. I just do not know.

I get everything from national balsa and have never been disappointed with the product.

The box car parked in the siding behind the shop. I've used Lonestar and Busa mostly. I may try National next time.

I recently bought quite a large amount from Specialized Balsa. Their service is great, and fast, wood is very good. However, different companies offer different product selections. Probably good to deal with a couple suppliers.

My guess is that most of these balsa suppliers will provide better quality wood than local hobby stores tend to stock. I think the ARF crowd is the group most catered to in hobby stores now.
